Galileo ELA Benchmarks: Teacher Checklist

Galileo? ELA Benchmarks: Teacher Checklist

For Imagine Language & Literacy and Imagine Reading

Welcome to Galileo!

With the new partnership between Imagine Learning and Assessment Technology, Inc. (ATI), students will be taking ATI's Galileo ELA benchmark three times a year. The initial benchmark is a prerequisite for students to begin using Imagine Language & Literacy and/or Imagine Reading. Each benchmark provides student growth data that determines and subsequently refines students' individual learning pathways in Imagine Language & Literacy.

If you have technology or navigation questions as your students complete the assessments, please contact the Imagine Learning Teacher Care Team at 866.457.8776 (call or text) or support@.

*Please note that this checklist does not apply to Pre-K students. Pre-K students will be placed in the beginning of the Imagine Language & Literacy curriculum at the start of the year and their subsequent learning path will be modified by periodic checkpoints within the program.

Task

Recommendations and Notes

1 Prepare for test administration

o Download or print test materials that include a teacher Refer to Printing the Test Booklet script and a copy of student instructions.

o Before taking the assessment, share our student benchmark video(s) found in Imagine Learning University with your class.

The videos will help explain the assessment process to students and can also be found in Imagine Learning University.

o If a practice test is scheduled by your school or district, have students complete the practice on the same day you watch the video.

There are two practice tests--one for K-1 and another for second grade and above. Each one is five questions and helps teach students how to navigate through the assessment.

If the ELA Benchmark is also listed when students log in, instruct them to only complete the practice.

2 Administer the benchmark

o When the practice test is completed and the ELA testing window is open, have students log in to complete the ELA Benchmark.

Once students log into Imagine Language & Literacy and/or Imagine Reading they are prompted to complete the test by clicking the link in the yellow banner at the top of the screen.

o Monitor students in real time using the Test Monitoring Report to ensure tests are submitted so students may begin using Imagine Language & Literacy and/or Imagine Reading.

In addition, you can also view student scores using the Benchmark Performance Level Report.

o If new students arrive after the testing window closes, Refer to Scheduling Assessments reassign the benchmark to your entire class. Students who have already completed the Benchmark will not be prompted to take it again.
