GRADE 1 and 2 MID-YEAR PRIMARY READING BENCHMARK CALCULATORS

This document outlines steps to manually record the grade 1 and 2 Mid-Year Primary Reading results into the Grade 1 and Grade 2 Benchmark Calculator Spreadsheets.

Steps to follow:

1. Go to the Student Assessment website’s Updates and Manuals link, located here:



2. Download and save to your desktop the following file(s):

Grade 1 Benchmark Calculator.xls

..and/or…

Grade 2 Benchmark Calculator.xls

3. Open the Benchmark Calculator in MS Excel and notice that there are two tabs on the bottom of the page. Make sure that you are on the “Entry Page” tab

4. From the Entry page, either copy and paste (from a class list etc.) or enter your student names in column A, starting where the example “Student 1” has been already indicated.

5. In columns B and over indicate the number 1 for any questions that the student marked incorrect in their test and answer book.

6. Once you have entered the data for all of your students on the “Entry Page” tab highlight all of your students names and copy them.

7. Now click on the “Results Tab” at the bottom of the screen. You should see an all green background with “3’s” indicated throughout.

8. Now, click on cell “A4” and paste the student names into the “Results Page” tab.

9. Now you should have the student name and corresponding benchmark information listed in each row. A percent correct that has been rounded down shows to the left of the benchmark information.
