Austine: Polage Exhibit, Elsa Forde Gallery, Schafer Hall. - Invented in 1967 by Austine Wood-Comarow, Polage art is created with no pigment of any kind. The material used breaks up light, creating color.

"Capturing the Moment" Exhibit by Prairie Plein Air Artists, Gannon Gallery, LEA Hall - Artists in France began painting "en plein air" (in the open air) in the mid-1800s, in 2013 a group of Dakota artists began working "en plein air" together.

"Heathers: The Musical", 7:30 p.m., Wednesday - Saturday 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sidney J. Lee Auditorium - Heathers: The Musical is based off the cult classic 80's film, Heathers. Adapted by Laurence O'Keefe (Legally Blonde) and Kevin Murphy (Reefer Madness, Desperate Housewives) this dark, riotous, and unforgettable comedy is about the living hell that is the American high school. Tickets can be purchased by calling 701-224-5677, by visiting the Campus Information Center, or by going to .

Tickets are $5 at the Campus Information Center for BSC Students with a valid ID, $10 for BSC Faculty and Staff, and $12 for members of the public in advance, or $15 at the door.

Thursday, April 4

Award-winning documentary, "The Great Alone", 7 p.m. at the Belle Mehus Auditorium, downtown Bismarck. Q&A to follow with four-time Iditarod winner Lance Mackey. - An award-winning documentary film shot in the Alaskan arctic captures the inspiring story of champion dog sled racer, Lance Mackey. Mackey is the first in history to win four consecutive Iditarod races. Offered in partnership with the Dakota Film Festival.

Poet Dr. Kevin Carollo, 7-8 p.m. Basin Auditorium NECE - Kevin Carollo is a professor of world literature and writing at Minnesota State University Moorhead. He is Editor for New Rivers Press, a teaching-centered independent literary press affiliated with MSUM. He writes for Rain Taxi Review of Books, and has poems in The Chattahoochee Review, Conduit, Court Green, Cream City Review, Ellipsis, and elsewhere.

Collage Concert, 7:30 p.m., Sidney J. Lee Auditorium - An evening of seamless entertainment featuring BSC instrumental and vocal groups and visual art improvisation by BSC art professors Nicole Gagner and Andrea Fagerstrom.

Spring Choral Concert, 7:30 p.m., Sidney J. Lee Auditorium - Join the BSC Concert Choir in in a program of modern and pop, jazz, classical and sacred Renaissance music, Sidney J. Lee Auditorium.

Monday, April 15

BSC Wind Ensemble Concert, 7:30 p.m., Sidney J. Lee Auditorium - Join us for an evening of contemporary original wind band music and transcriptions. The BSC Wind Ensemble will pay special tribute to American composer Leonard Bernstein in honor of his 100th birthday.

Chamber Concert, 7:30 p.m., Sidney J. Lee Auditorium - Featuring the BSC Brass Ensemble, String Ensemble, and Guitar Ensemble, this concert will also highlight the Prairie Plein Air Artists Miranda Cox, Nicole Gagner and Larry Maslowski.

Juried Student Exhibit Reception, 4-6 p.m. Gannon Gallery, LEA Hall - BSC student art exhibit and open house.

Shortcuts, 7-9 p.m., Bavendick Stateroom, NECE - BSC's third annual live, fast-paced design battle for supreme creative dominance is an audience-friendly design experiment showcasing creative skills of local graphic designers and artists in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.

BSC Jazz Ensemble concert, 7:30 p.m., Sidney J. Lee Auditorium - BSC Jazz Ensemble and BSC Jazz Combo concert under the direction of Michael Langer. Free admission.

DSU Senior Vocal Recital: Adler Scheer, 3 p.m., Sidney J. Lee Auditorium - DSU collaborative music performance student Adler Scheer will present his capstone senior recital.

44th Annual Graphic Design & Communications Spring Show, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. daily, BSC Student Union - Students in the BSC Graphic Design & Communications program showcase their work.

A Poet's Tale ? Poetry Contest, 7 p.m., Basin Auditorium, NECE - BSC marketing students present A Poet's Tale, an opportunity to bring your poetry to an audience in a live poetry competition. Participants can register at the door and the contest is open to all.

Visiting Artist Karen Bakke Classroom Visits and Demos, Tuesday, April 30, 10:30 a.m., 332 LEA Hall; Wednesday, May 1, 8:30 a.m., 322 LEA Hall; and Noon, 317 LEA Hall - BSC alumna Karen Bakke focuses on large murals and commissioned canvas paintings. Bakke's style is "realism with a touch of impressionism." She will be giving one-hour demos in conjunction with BSC art classes.

Community Raku, 1-5 p.m. Sunday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday, and 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tuesday, BSC Ceramics Studio and Courtyard, LEA Hall - Outdoor raku pottery firing for students and local community by BSC Visual Arts program. Weather permitting.

Pick up your free clay in the BSC art department, on the second floor of LEA Hall beginning March 20. Make a pot or small sculpture and return it no later than April 24 for bisque firing. The ceramics studio is open Monday-Thursday 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Fridays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

BSC 2019 Graphic Design & Communications Portfolio Review, 10 a.m. - noon, Student Union, Alumni Room - BSC Graphic Design graduates showcase their body of work.

Short Play Festival 2019: What Happened to the American Dream?, 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Sidney J Lee Auditorium - Produced in partnership with the North Dakota Council on the Arts and Humanities ND, this year's Short Play Festival is the end result of a national ten minute playwriting competition hosted by BSC.
