IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING TRANSLATIONS/INTERPETATIONS

Greek Consular Office in Washington DC does not offer official translation/ interpretation services.

If you need translation or interpretation for your consular needs, please consider the following options:

A. Official translations (Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Athens)

You can address to the Translation Service of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Requests submitted by courier

Citizens who are unable to come to the Translation Service can send their documents for translation via a private courier company of their choice, paying the relevant fees and instructing the courier company to submit the documents to a cashier, pay the translation fees, and take the receipt in order to pick up the translated documents on a designated date. ATTENTION: Those transacting with the Translation Service should present a photo identity card and in case of a foreign national, citizen a third to the EC country a proof of their legal residency in Greece. (Law 3386/2005 article 84 paragraph 1).Those transacting on behalf of a third party, are asked to provide relevant legal authorization when submitting and picking up documents.

B. Translations / Interpretations by accredited professionals (Washington DC)

Translations

You may contract directly with professional translators accredited to the Consular Office in Washington DC (list upon request). Our Office is only entitled to legalize the signature of the translator included in the list and is not in a position to vouch for the quality and accuracy of services rendered by the listed professionals or the fees they charge.

Please note that in case of court documents, wills, power of attorney, divorces and other legal documents – you are obliged to address to the Translation Service of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs (option A) and not to professional translators/interpreters of our list.

Interpretations

For interpretation purposes in legal documents (eg.power of attorney), please consider the following options:

a) you may contract with the listed professionals (list upon request)

b) you may choose persons of your trust that do not appear on this list, providing they are fluent in both greek and english.
