The "Future Ready Schools" school certification program is a joint program between the New Jersey Department of Education, the New Jersey Institute of Technology and the New Jersey School Boards Association "designed to promote transformational change in schools and districts throughout New Jersey." The program is based on the work of the national Future Ready Schools initiative. In order to achieve certification, schools must undergo a comprehensive application and review process that demonstrates their commitment to preparing their students for success in the digital age through innovative best practices in each of the following categories: Leadership, Education and Classroom Practice and Technology. Tonight, we recognize the Future Ready Teams at our schools that have achieved either Bronze or Silver Level Distinction. It is worth noting that these distinctions are not equivalent to second and third place. Rather, they are meant to show the level of achievement. In order for a school to qualify for Silver, they must first qualify for Bronze. Further, a Gold level does not yet exist.

The New Jersey Dept of Education ran a New Jersey School Spirit Twitter Competition where participants posted a 30 second video that demonstrates how their school celebrates teamwork, collaboration and school pride. Winning schools receive a visit from Dr. Lamont Repollet, Commissioner of Education. Two of our schools submitted entries. They are Hillers Elementary School and Parker Elementary School. Only one school won, but both videos are truly outstanding. We will play both videos for you and let you watch Commissioner Repollet's selection video to hear straight from him who our winner is . . .
The High Schools' Culinary Arts Program was one of the few schools selected to participate in the New Jersey Dept of Education's Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration focusing on the New Jersey State Seal of Biliteracy and advocacy. The event will take place tomorrow, October 29 in Trenton. Our Culinary Arts Program will be volunteering their culinary skills to prepare a few dishes for the event.
