The Nebraska Czechs of Wilber organization was formed in 1962 to perpetuate the Czech heritage and culture, develop tourism and to boost the economy of Wilber. On July 17th, 1963, Wilber was proclaimed `Czech Capital of Nebraska.'
On July 10th, 1987, Wilber was proclaimed, `Czech Capital of the U.S.A.'
