10160103505-854075-19875500Hasmonean High SchoolJOB DESCRIPTIONJob Title:Temporary Finance OfficerDepartment:FinanceResponsible to:Head of Finance Direct reports:None Grade/Salary:SCP 5-8 ?22,185- ?23,406Hours: 36 hours per week - Monday to Friday Full Time, needs to be in for July month end and last week in August___________________________________________________________________________________Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesBackgroundFinance officer is working with Finance team and fully accountable to organise and deliver effective financial systems within the MAT and to ensure efficient operation of the MAT’s accounting function according to agreed procedures.The main duties of the Finance Officer include matching and coding invoices, preparing and running BACS payments and reconciliations with Bank for these payments, reconciling supplier statements and VAT reconciliations.The role of the Finance Officer is to provide a professional and efficient service being part of the finance team, monitoring Aged creditors balances and providing accurate financial information on accruals and prepayments to Management accountant and Head of Finance as needed.Key responsibilities:Dealing with department budget holders for purchase ordersOrdering, processing and payment of all goods and servicesChecking relevant supplier quotes for Capital items as per finance proceduresMatching, checking and coding invoicesMaking payments via BACS and chequesBanking of cheques and cashProcessing staff expensesManaging petty cash expenses and petty cash reconciliationsSetting up of new supplier accounts and maintaining existing account detailsReconciliation of supplier statementsFiling invoices and organising supplier contracts and other related recordsBeing first point of contact for all relevant supplier enquiriesMonitor and record all monies for school trips on ledger and reconciles with admin team.Vat control account reconciliationsBank reconciliations and Debit card reconciliationsUndertake further training as required for e.g. New accounting system or new processes etc.Ad HocTo maintain a register of supplier contracts.To provide audit assistance for year end audits.To cover for other members of the Finance Team in their absenceAny other adhoc dutiesThe Ideal Candidate:Excellent communication skillsMulti-tasking and planning & organising skillsSolid team working skillsSelf-disciplined, Methodical and efficient, with a flexible and proactive natureExperienced in Sage , Excel and Microsoft office packagesKnowledge of software packages such as SAGE and BACSDemonstrable experience of bookkeepingAbility to prioritise and work to meet deadlinesThe above responsibilities are subject to the general duties and responsibilities contained in the statement of Conditions of Employment.
