Classroom Rules
When in our classroom, students must comply with the following rules:
1. Students will comply with all school rules and policies, particularly the ID and dress code policy.
2. Students will come to class on time by the second bell or they will be marked tardy.
3. Students will remain in their assigned seats until the bell rings.
4. Students will follow directions the first time they are given and will productively stay on task.
5. Students will come prepared to class and must bring their book, notebook, and pencils everyday unless otherwise specified.
6. Students will respect others and the property of others in the classroom.
7. Students are to use appropriate language in the classroom. No bad words or any language that is offensive to any other student in the classroom.

9. Absolutely no whining will be tolerated.
10. Permission to leave the room should only be asked when lecture time is over.
11. The student will cooperatively participate in assigned classroom activities, using “2-foot” voices and talking only “Mathematics”.
When a rule is broken the following consequences will occur:
1. First time student breaks a rule: WARNING
2. Second time student breaks a rule: DETENTION
3. Third time student breaks a rule: CALL TO PARENTS
4. Fourth time student breaks a rule: REFERRAL TO ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL and CALL TO PARENTS
5. Severe Clause: EXCLUSION FROM CLASS
Attendance
Students are strongly discouraged from missing class. Students explore and discover mathematical concepts in class. Absences interfere with the comprehension and progress necessary to successfully complete the course. We will follow the established school wide rules for classroom attendance and tardiness. Make-up work will only be accepted for excused absences; otherwise, an F will be given. It is the students’ responsibility for obtaining missed notes and for completing make-up work in a timely manner. Make-up tests are not given during class and must be completed within one week of any excused absence. It is the students’ responsibility to make prior arrangements with the teacher for making up a test.
****Students who acquire TEN OR MORE UNEXCUSED absences during the school
year will be in danger of receiving N/C (no credit) as a final grade for the course.
(Realize that an absence on a block day counts as two absences.)
****Detentions will be assigned for the third tardy and everyone thereafter. For each detention not served two more will be given.
Materials
Students are expected to bring their notebook, lined paper, and pencils EVERY day. Student study guide should be brought to class everyday. Notes, Classwork, and Home Learning will be graded each Nine-week quarter. Notes must be written neatly. CALCULATORS will be provided to you on most assignments and tests. Sharing of calculators is NOT allowed. No cell phone calculators are allowed. **AN ORGANIZED NOTEBOOK IS A SIGNIFICANT AND ESSENTIAL TOOL FOR SUCCESS IN MATHEMATICS! No book will be assigned to you. You will need a THREE RING BINDER.
Daily Assignments (Class/Home Learning)
Assignments will be assigned, checked and reviewed DAILY. It is a students’ responsibility to complete assignments on time and to make corrections on missed problems. Late work is NOT accepted, unless it is an EXCUSED absence. Students are expected to take notes EVERY day, and keep them in the appropriate section of their notebook. **All problems should be attempted and all work MUST be shown for FULL credit!!
Grading Policy
Grades will be broken down into two components: 1) classwork and home learning= 25%, 2) quizzes, pop-quizzes, and tests =75%.
Academic grades will be assigned according to the following grading scales:
Test & Home Learning
Quiz and Project Grade & Class Work Grade Marking Period
A 90 – 100 % A check mark + 3.50 – 4.00
B 80 – 89 % B Check mark 2.50 – 3.49
C 70 – 79 % C check mark - 1.50 – 2.49
D 60 – 69 % D check mark = 1.00 – 1.49
F 0 – 59% F 0.00 – 0.99
Students are encouraged to see the teacher before or after school for questions and/or for help. Additional tutoring services are available (for free) after school by the Math Honor Society. Check with me to see if Saturday tutorials programs are available as well. Parents may also feel free to contact me anytime at 305-443-4871, and at rsaintalbin@ .
