E2020 COURSE INFORMATION

All courses will be delivered through our e-learning program called E2020. Broad in scope with rich content, E2020 curriculum uses a variety of proven strategies to easily explain concepts, provide practical applications and evaluate student performance. E2020 offers students the opportunities to take a wide variety of classes at their own pace. It uses a variety of strategies to explain concepts, provide practical application, and evaluate student performance. The content is delivered in a dynamic, multi-media format consistent with the expectations of today’s technology—savvy youth. This program will assist teachers with automatic grading, daily student lesson assignments, and reporting. Approximately 80% of all student work is instantly graded and the teacher is notified of any remaining problems that need attention. This will allow more one to one individualized assistance for student mastery. Students are given a plan of study which indicates lessons that must be completed to earn credit. The student takes a pre-test for every lesson, an individualized course of lessons is put together by the program, eliminating the need for students to relearn the lessons that they have already mastered. The student completes the lessons, and then takes a post-test. When the student completes all lessons and any assignments prescribed by the facilitator, they are finished with the course. We are excited to implement this new program for student success.

The students are led through their course of study by lab facilitators who are certified teachers in the Carrollton City School system. We will host one morning lab and two afternoon labs for this year’s summer school. The facilitators will help the students navigate the E2020 program as well as a suggested pacing guide for students. They will contact parents to advise them of any issues related to their child’s progress or learning and facilitate the lab.

Previous experience has taught us that a student could need as much as 120 lab hours to complete a course. E2020 enrollment is on a first-come, first-serve basis and we will only enroll up to 25 students in each lab per session.

Georgia Milestone End of Course Assessment

Students will be required to take a state-mandated Georgia Milestone end of course assessment. The test counts for 20% of the student’s overall grade in the subject area. A student who does not take the test WILL NOT receive course credit. Testing dates will be announced throughout summer school. Tentative dates are set for July 13th-16th. The courses that require a Georgia Milestone are:

• Coordinate Algebra

• Math II

• Analytic Geometry

• U.S. History

• Economics

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS

VERY IMPORTANT !!!!

MISSED CLASS TIME (E2020)

• A STUDENT WHO IS ENROLLED IN AN E2020 COURSE IS EXPECTED TO BE PRESENT EVERY DAY AND HAVE AT LEAST 130 LAB HOURS.

• IF A STUDENT DOES NOT COMPLETE A COURSE BY THE END OF THE SESSION AND HAS NOT REGISTRED THE MINIMUM ATTENDANCE HOURS, THEY WILL FAIL THE COURSE.

• IF A STUDENT MEETS THE ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS BUT DOES NOT FINISH THE COURSE, THEY WILL RECEIVE AN INCOMPLETE COURSE GRADE.

• IF A STUDENT COMPLETES THE COURSE WITH LESS THAN 130 CLOCK HOURS, THEY WILL RECEIVE CREDIT! PLEASE SEE THE EARLY COMPLETION SECTION BELOW.

SORRY!!! WE CANNOT EXCUSE STUDENTS FOR FAMILY VACATIONS, FAMILY REUNIONS, BAND CAMP, CHEERLEADING CAMPS, ATHLETIC CAMPS, ETC. PLEASE HELP US BY MAKING PLANS TO SUPPORT THIS POLICY. NO EXCEPTIONS!

EARLY COMPLETION:

One of the great benefits of the E2020 instructional model is the individual and flexible nature of its content delivery and completion. A student who completes all course requirements before the session ends DOES NOT have to meet the minimum attendance requirements. For example, if a student finishes his/her Geometry course requirements on June 14th with 80 lab hours, they are finished. The E2020 system allows us to reward hard-working students who are focused to complete their tasks on time or early!

LEAVING SCHOOL:

Students will be allowed to leave the school campus only during lunch time (12:00-12:45). STUDENTS MAY NOT LEAVE CAMPUS AT ANY OTHER TIME AND ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE PARKING LOT DURING THE INSTRUCTIONAL DAY. Soft drink machines will be available, as well as a selection of snacks, etc. during breaks.

CLASS CONDUCT:

Unnecessary class disruptions by students will not be tolerated. If a student is sent to the summer school office for disrupting class he or she may not be allowed to return to class for the day and will be required to make up the time missed. A second referral for disruption of class will result in withdrawal of the student from the summer school course. Smoking, fighting, and other more serious infractions will result in immediate withdrawal from summer school. SMOKING IS NOT ALLOWED ON CAMPUS AT ANY TIME! STUDENTS/PARENTS WILL NOT RECEIVE A REFUND OF THEIR FEES IF A STUDENT IS WITHDRAWN BASED ON CONDUCT!!

TELEPHONE MESSAGES:

Only emergency messages from parents will be given to students. Any other messages and arrangements for transportation should be taken care of prior to arrival at summer school that day. Cell phones may be used during breaks outside of the building as needed. Cell phones may not be powered on or out during class, and will be treated as a classroom disruption accordingly.
