RAINBOW CRAFT FIELD DAY GUIDELINES

1. Youth are required to create and give a two minutes prepared speech about their exhibit. Youth MUST obtain a minimum of a Red Seal on their presentation for this presentation to count towards their Fair Requirement. The following rubric will be used to evaluate the presentation:  .  To help prepare for the presentation, youth should refer to the Presentation Manual:  

2. Members must fill out a participation form for each entry and turn into the 4-H OFFICE 2279 DEL ORO AVE., SUITE B, OROVILLE, CA 95965. All entries MUST be in the 4-H office by Monday, March 18, 2019.

3. Late registrations will not be accepted.

4. Members having disabilities who need special equipment should contact the 4-H office in advance.

5. Definition of Craft entries: Group of components that make up an end product (item) and not for human consumption.

6. Each entry must represent the work of the 4-H’er.

7. Projects must have been made during this current 4-H project year or 2018-2019 project year or after Rainbow Craft Field Day of April 2018.

8. Limit: 2 entries per member, regardless of project or project areas.

9. This Field Day is open to all 4-H members. Enrollment in any of the project areas is not a requirement to participate.

10. Project leaders will be evaluators. Parents and other adults, may volunteer to judge in areas in which they have expertise. Please note on the registration form.

11. Evaluation will be Danish system and ribbons will be awarded. Members must be present during evaluation and will be evaluated according to verbal responses and quality of project entered. Participants receiving 100% score in project and showmanship will receive a rosette.

12. Special recognitions, including county winner and medalist, for each category will be granted to the members with outstanding scores in both areas of project exhibit and showmanship.

13. Participation ribbons will be available for Primary Members. (5-8 yr. old) No formal competition for Primary Members projects will be allowed.

RAINBOW CRAFT DAY CATEGORY DESCRIPTION

Archery - Leather gear construction, design and build an arrow.

Ceramics - Stoneware, Pottery, Statuary, Outdoor Decorations.

Fine Arts - Drawing, Painting, Sculpting, Printing, Fiber Arts, or Graphic Design.

Floral Design - Wreaths, swags or centerpieces.

Holiday Decorations - Any craft item made for a specific holiday.

Knitting/Crochet - Slippers, Pillow, Purse, Afghan Square, Poncho, Bag, Hat, Pincushion, Belt, Scarf, Headband, Dishcloth.

Leathercraft - Purse, Bag, Hat, Belt, Headband, Wallet, Saddle that involve carving, stamping, and lacing.

Lego - Create an item such as a fictional character, a building, vehicle, or a Lego scene

Metalworking - Earrings, Pins and other Jewelry, Outdoor Decorations, Furniture.

Models - Any type of model is suitable (cars, trucks, trains, ships, and tanks). Kits are acceptable.

Photography - Digital, Polaroid, Portrait, Self-Portrait, Pets/Wildlife, Landscape, Panorama,

Buildings/Structures, Night time, Reflective, Action/Sports, Still life.

Quilting/Needlework - Design a Quilt or Embroidery pattern.

Recycled Art - Craft item must contain a majority of recycled items.

Scrapbooks - Stickers, Buttons, Die Cuts, Eyelets & Brads, Tearing and scissors, Sewing, Photos, Craft Punches, Inking, Chipboard, Rub-Ons, Fibers, Embossing.

Woodworking - Wood burning, Carving, Whittling, Furniture.
