The correct choice of color and developer is essential for best results. The choice must be made bearing in mind the customer's natural hair color, the desired degree of lightening and the percentage of gray hair. Remember, tint won't lift tint. If the hair has previously been colored with permanent hair color then an application of Ion? Color BrillianceTM Color Corrector should first be done.

APPLICATION:

? Using a non-metallic bowl or tint bottle, mix 2 oz of Ion? Color BrillianceTM with 2 oz Ion Sensitive Scalp? Cr?me Developer.

? For High Lift Blondes mix 2 oz of color with 4 oz 30 or 40 volume Ion Sensiti1ve Scalp? Cr?me Developer.

? Use a tint brush or tint bottle to apply the mixture to dry unwashed hair.

? Refer to the insert included in hair color box for more detailed information. (Always strand test for accuracy)

PROCESSING TIME:

All instructions are based on average texture. If the hair is fine or coarse adjustments should be made accordingly. Fine hair is much more receptive to hair coloring where coarse hair is not.

RULES FOR PROPER COLOR SELECTION:

1. Determine client's natural level (lightness to darkness minus the tone). Use the swatches in the neutral (N) shade family as a guide.

2. Determine the percentage of gray/white hair (if over 50% gray, see Tips for Superior Gray Coverage).

3. Select the desired level and base (tone) of the final result.

4. Select the appropriate Ion? Developer (see below).

WHY IT'S IMPORTANT TO CHOOSE THE CORRECT TONE?

RULES FOR PROPER COLOR SELECTION:

Hair color is a result of the natural underlying pigment plus the shade used. Underlying pigment must be taken into account when the desired hair color is more than 2 levels lighter than the natural level.

For example, choose an Ion? Color BrillianceTM shade with an ash base to help neutralize the extra red or orange tones of the underlying pigment. If red is the desired tone, then the warm underlying pigment will add to this result.

The color wheel shows this neutralization. Colors that are opposite each other neutralize each other and can be helpful in eliminating unwanted warmth or reducing too much ash.
