In this class we will study, but are not limited to covering patterns within functions, statistics, linear and exponential relationships, expressions and equations, and quadratic functions. This content will fully prepare you for the Algebra I Regents exam. Don’t let this list scare you! I understand we are all at different readiness levels, and I am ready to meet you where you are! Welcome to your class!HomeworkYou will have daily assignments every night in this class as a way to practice what we have learned, and develop your understanding of the topics. Daily assignments will include material from that day’s class and review from previous topics. All homework assignments will be posted on our class website: . We will also have a Google Classroom website where important announcements will be posted as well as other resources. Visit the Google Classroom group to view class notes, homework assignments, and important dates to be posted (test dates &extra help sessions).Period 3 Google Classroom Code- dv750rAssessmentsAssessments are tools to determine where you are at, and what you understand. Many will be graded (unit assessments, quizzes, etc) and some may not be (“check-ins”). You will always be made aware of what will be graded and what will not be. All assessments for a grade will be announced with plenty of time for you to prepare. GradesYour grade will be composed of assessments, homework, and other graded class work assignments. Grades are calculated using a total points system. I will keep an up to date and accurate grade book at all times. Extra help is a good time to discuss questions/concerns about your grade.CalculatorsCalculators are essential to your learning in this course! Calculators are the best resource to support your understanding and execution of certain content in this class. You MUST have your calculator with you on a daily basis. NO EXCEPTIONS! Calculators to be used for this course are TI-84 calculators. ExpectationsRespect: We are all part of the same classroom community, and should always treat each other with respect. Behavior: Appropriate classroom behavior is expected at all times. This includes language and topics of conversation. Issues with behavior yield consequences such as calls homes, referrals, and/or meetings with administrators. Electronics: There is zero tolerance for any unauthorized use of cell phones, I-pods, or other electronic devices. This is your warning! Daily Routine: Each day when you enter the classroom you should be ready to learn! Hallway behavior/voices stop at the door, and the classroom routine begins immediately. You will always check the front table for items to be picked up, and check the board for the “Do Now”, your homework assignment, and important announcements. You should put your homework on your desk right away, and begin working on the “Do Now.”Absences: When you miss class it is YOUR responsibility to find out what you missed, and get/copy the important materials. Excellent resources for this would be a classmate, our Google Classroom and extra help. You should never have to ask me, “Did I miss anything?” If you are absent you missed important work that you are responsible for. The day you return you must show me the daily and/or weekly that was due the day of your absence or else you will not receive credit for the assignment. If you miss an assessment you must schedule a time afterschool to make it up ASAP!Band/Chorus/Orchestra: If you have a scheduled band, chorus, or orchestra lesson you will follow the procedure for when you are absent. If you have a lesson on the day of the test you must try to reschedule your lesson. Keep in mind that it is essential for you to keep up with the material in class if you have lessons that will interrupt your learning in math.Tardies/Lateness’s: Being to class on time is more important than you may think. Much of the daily routine happens in the beginning of class. Students who are not on time to class fall behind quickly! If you are not on time with a pass you will be excused but it is your responsibility to find out what you missed. Tardies are unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Three tardies will result in disciplinary action. If you are late just sit down quietly and quickly get your materials for the day out.Extra Help: Keeping up is extremely important. If you are confused don’t hesitate to get some help. Times and places will be announced in class. We are always happy to help!Being Prepared: You must come to class each day with all of the supplies from your supply sheet. Calculators on a daily basis are a must! Calls home will be made to students who continually come unprepared.Keep a positive attitude! We’re all here for the same goal! Attitude is everythingBe a participant: Pay attention, participate productively, work cooperatively, raise your hand, complete work honestly and work with effort23096351416000 ................
