Cashmere School District / Homepage

April 17, 2020Dear Parents and Students:I am writing this letter to check in with all of you and let you know what we have been doing at Cashmere High School to promote “Remote Learning”. First let me say how much the staff misses having the students here every day. We have just completed our fourth week of being out of school and providing learning for all students. Through these first four weeks we have learned a lot and still have more to figure out. Last week during Spring Break our district administrators and high school teachers studied and trained with on-line experts to help us develop a strong and consistent system on deliver for instruction. Each Monday, by 9:00 a.m. all teachers and classes will drop their assignments, lesson plans and student work on Google Classroom for the week. We built a schedule that allows students to meet live with their teachers with no conflicts between classes. (printed on the back of letter) We found out that we cannot teach the students the same way as if they are in our classes with the teachers each day. We are using Google Classroom, Google Drive, Zoom-for live interaction and Screencastify for video lessons and having video interaction with students. Teachers will also schedule office hours where students can have live video chats with staff and get help on their school work. Our goal is to be consistent and have a routine for the students and parents so no one is getting overwhelmed by our current situation. For students who are unable to access the lessons digitally teachers are providing packets that can be picked up and dropped off at the high school foyer entryway. Reminder, all students and parents, you should check Google Classroom each Monday morning to see the work for the week. We still have several students who have not turned in any assignments or attended their on-line classes. All work is being recorded into Skyward and you are able to check grades each week. Seniors, it is especially important for you to keep up and make sure you fulfill your graduation requirements and get your work done. Graduation is still on the minds of everyone and we will let you know what our plans are as soon as we know.As always, if you have any questions or concerns please call, text or email at any time. I miss you and hope to see you all soon.Sincerely,Tony Boyle, Principal ................
