ACCESSING YOUR HYBRID OR ONLINE COURSE

Canvas is the course management system used by faculty at Chaffey College for the delivery of both hybrid and online classes. Students enrolled in a hybrid or online class will be granted access within Canvas after noon on the first scheduled day of class to complete online course work.

HOW TO ACCESS CANVAS:

1. Log into your MyChaffey Portal 2. Click on the Canvas link off the Launchpad

(located on the right-hand side) 3. Select a course from your Canvas Dashboard

The Canvas Student App allows students to access their courses and groups using a mobile device. Students can submit assignments, participate in discussions, view grades and course materials. FALL 2019 HYBRID CLASSES

Beginning and ending dates are listed for all classes. Class offerings, particularly instructor assignment and room numbers, are subject to change without notice.

WHAT IS A HYBRID CLASS? Hybrid classes are a combination of online and classroom instruction, with at least 50% of the instruction held in the classroom. All hybrid classes meet on-campus during the first week of the class, during which important information about the class ? including instructions and/or requirements for accessing the online component ? is provided.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR A HYBRID CLASS Students register for hybrid classes using the same registration process for on-campus classes. For more information about the registration process, please visit the Admissions and Records website at chaffey.edu/admissions/registration.shtml.

GETTING STARTED WITH YOUR HYBRID CLASS Students should check the Schedule of Classes for the designated dates, times, and location of the first week's meeting and all subsequent on-campus meetings. Students in hybrid classes are expected to attend all class meetings as well as fully participate in the online portion of the instruction. Attendance can be a factor for an instructor to initiate a drop; not attending the first class meeting may result in a student being dropped from a class. Canvas is the class management system used by faculty at Chaffey College for the delivery of the online portion of hybrid classes. Students enrolled in a hybrid class prior to instruction will be granted access within Canvas after noon on the first scheduled day of class to complete online class work.

HOW TO ADD A HYBRID CLASS Students waitlisted, or hoping to add a hybrid class after registration and the waitlists close, should attend the first class meeting. If there is available space in the class, the instructor will provide an Add Code allowing the student to register via MyChaffeyVIEW or in person. Students who add a hybrid class using an instructor issued Add Code will be granted access to their class within Canvas one business day after they have completed the registration process.

HYBRID CLASS WAITLISTS The waitlist process for hybrid classes is the same as it is for on-campus classes. For more information about the waitlist process, please visit the Admissions and Records website at .
