When cool pour into iceblock trays with sticks in. Super greens e.g. puha, purslane, dandelion leaf, stinging nettle (Urtica dioica)Eat purslane, dandelion leaves fresh when young, OR sauté with tomatoes, onion, garlic, olive oil and oregano, OR blanch puha, dandelion leaf, and/or stinging nettle in pot of boiling water for 1 minute, mix with ? cup sesame seeds, and 2Tbs soy sauce Herbal teasRosehips, green tea, rosemary, peppermint, nettle are herbs high in antioxidants making pleasant and refreshing teas.? Use 1tsp of herb to 1 cup of boiling water and steep 10 minutes.Herbal decoction (Dr Michael Tierra. Treating Cancer with Herbs, Lotus Press, 2003, p241)Mix equal parts red clover blossoms, violet leaves and blossoms, burdock and yellow dock roots. Simmer at least 60g of the combination in 750mls water for 20 minutes. Herbal vinegarFinely chop or blend – garlic, ginger, horseradish, onion? – approximately 1 tbsp of each. Cover in cider vinegar. Steep for at least 24 hours. Use in dressings or take by the spoonful as a tonicAlmond butter (home made ideal) with ground up herbs of rosemary and thyme – used as a savoury spread on a green salad sandwich with carrot and sprouts.Dukkah 10g (2/3 -1 cup) hazelnuts /almond/ or walnuts 80g (1/2 cup ) sesame seeds 80g ( ? cup) chia seeds 2 tbs coriander seeds 2 tbs cumin seeds2tbsp ground turmeric 2 tsp freshly ground black pepper 2tsp dried thyme1 tsp Himalayan salt Extra virgin olive oil, to serve Dry roast the nuts and seeds lightly in the oven and when cool grind together to a meal. Add the other ingredients and store in a screw top jar. Remove from heat and infuse an additional 10 minutes. Strain out the herbs. Add carbonated water and lemon just before serving. Chamomile (Chamomilla recutita) 2 teabags per cup of boiling water, infuse covered for 10 minutes, strain and drink OR 2 tsp dried flowers per cup of boiling water.2) Mouth UlcersMouth ulcers are a common side effect of chemotherapy, and can cause significant distress with pain, reduced ability to eat a range of foods. Anti-ulcer mouthwashCombine 5mls each of: Manuka fluid extract (or 2-3 drops essential oil) Calendula fluid extract Licorice fluid extract Echinacea root fluid extractAdd to 500mls saline (1 level Tbs salt to 500mls boiling water, cool). Use liberally as mouthwash – 20-30mls twice daily.3) Constipation In the early stages the following approaches can help. Chamomile tea -before meals.FenugreekTrigonella foenum-graecumFenugreek is a gentle demulcent to the digestive tract, hypoglycaemic, and a mild anti-bacterial. It is also nutritive and can enhance appetite. It may absorb toxins from the bowel and regulate colonic bacteria.Fenugreek TeaSoak 1 Tbs of seeds per cup for 10 minutes, simmer for 1 minute, let sit for further 10 minutes, strain and drink 1 cup three times daily. Can add fennel seed or linseed, or honey. GingerZingiber officinalisAppetite stimulant tea1 tsp fresh grated or dried ginger root2 cups water? tsp each dried or fresh peppermint leaf, fennel seed, cinnamon.1 tsp honey – optional.Simmer ginger in water for few minutes, then remove from heat. Add other ingredients, infuse for 10-15 minutes, strain and drink. 6) Dry MouthEchinacea and lemon juice remedy.This mix increases salivation and can give some relief for mouth dryness.In 500ml water, add juice of ? lemon, and 5-10mls Echinacea tincture.Sip regularly. These doses can be adjusted depending on individual response. ................
