1. Heaven is described as a ________________________________________________ (Hebrews 11:14-16; Hebrews 12:22; 13:14; Revelation 21:2).

2. At least fifteen times in Revelation 21 and 22 the place God and His people will live together is called a city. Describe different features which make a city a city. _______ _____________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________

The New Earth will be God’s house, and the New Jerusalem will be His living room. Jesus, the King of Kings, will be the reigning King and They will share it all with us. It will truly be Heaven on Earth.

What are the city’s dimensions?

6. He measured the city and its length, width, and height were each ______________________ stadia or furlong which equals about 1,400 miles. (Revelation 21:16).

7. The wall measured ___________ cubits or 216 feet (21:17).

9. Revelation 21:12 The city had a massive high wall, with ___________ gates.

10. There were ____________ gates on each of the four walls.

Will there be space and time in Heaven?

Does the New Earth and the Holy City, New Jerusalem, exist in space and time with a future unfolding progressively? Some have taken the original King James mistranslation of Revelation 10:6 “that there should be time no longer” and said that there is no time in Heaven. But almost all other translations say “that there would be no more delay”. Some remember the phrase “time shall be no more” and think it’s from the Bible, when actually, it comes from a hymn. Ironically, the same hymn speaks of “When the morning breaks...” Both the words when and morning are references to time. The following Scriptures also indicate that there will be both space and time in Heaven.

13. Martyrs in Heaven are told to ___________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ (Revelation 6:10-11).

14. Soesn’t this show there is some aspect of time in heaven? _____________________

15. God’s people in Heaven, “serve him ______________________ in his temple” (Revelation 7:15).

16. What does this show us about time in Heaven? ______________________________ ____________________________________________________________________

17. The tree of life on the New Earth will be producing or yielding “its fruit every _________________” (Revelation 22:2). Maybe we will have calendars there as we do here!

18. “There was silence in heaven for about __________________________” (Revelation 8:1). Maybe there will be clocks in Heaven!

19. The inhabitants of Heaven “__________ a new ________” (Revelation 5:9-12). Here on earth our music requires time. Meter, tempo, and rests are all essential components of music, and each is time-related.

Where will we live in Heaven?

In the King James translation of John 14:2, it says: “In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” The Latin Vulgate Bible used the word mansiones in that verse, and the King James Versions followed by using the word mansions. Unfortunately, that rendering is misleading if it makes us envision having massive lodgings on separate estates. The original Greek word mone literally means staying, dwelling, or abiding. The best way to put this is: In Heaven, where my Father lives, I will prepare individual dwelling-places for you.

20. A passage in Isaiah starts, “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth and ends with They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain (Isaiah 65:17-25). In between is a verse that appears to refer to life on the New Earth: They shall _____________________________________; They shall ____________________ and eat their fruit (Isaiah 65:21). This involves not only houses but land. The New Earth’s citizens will build, plant, and eat, as human beings on Earth always have. Heaven isn’t likely to have lots of identical residences. God loves diversity/variety.

Will we open our homes in Heaven to guests?

21. What Christ said in Luke 16 seems to indicate so. After speaking of the shrewd servant’s desire to use earthly resources so that “people will welcome me into their houses” (v. 4), Jesus told his followers to “use worldly wealth to gain friends” (v. 9). Jesus instructed them to use their earthly resources to gain friends by making a difference in their lives on Earth. The reason? “So that when it [life on Earth] is gone, you will we welcomed into _______________ dwelling(or home)” (v. 9). Our “friends” in Heaven appear to be those whose lives we’ve touched on earth and who now have their own “eternal dwellings.” Luke 16:9 seems to say that these “eternal dwellings” of our friends are places where we’ll be welcome and enjoy companionship—open homes to us as we move about the Kingdom. If one doesn’t think Heaven will be earth-like it doesn’t occur to them to take this passage literally. But surely Christ isn’t saying we’ll enter Heaven because we used our money wisely. Every time we give to missions and feed the hungry, we should think about people we’ll meet in Heaven, people whose homes on the New Earth will be open where we will likely visit one day.

22. Will Jesus be one of the guests you welcome into your dwelling place? ________

23. On Earth who did He visit in their homes? ________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________

24. At the Last Supper Jesus told His disciples, “I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in __________________ ___________________” (Matt.26:29). He spoke these words as He ate a meal with them in a private home. What better place to do that than in our dwelling-places on the New Earth?

25. Jesus says, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will ____________________________________________________ ___________________________________” (Rev. 3:20). Though speaking figuratively, He is interested in our lives. Jesus desires our company. Jesus is preparing us a place in Heaven. He’ll welcome us into His home. and we should expect to welcome Him into ours. Do most people think of resurrected people living on a resurrected Earth, living in dwelling places, working, resting, eating and fellowshipping together when they read this Scripture? __________ Could this also happen in Heaven? ____________

What will our daily lives be like?

Will we rest in Heaven?

26. God _____________ on the seventh day (Gen. 2:2).

27. He ___________ the earth every _____________ year (Lev. 25:4-5).

28. Our lives in Heaven will include __________ (Heb. 4:1-11). v. 11, Make every effort to enter that __________”

29. “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ ‘Yes,’ says the Spirit, ‘they will ______________ from their labor, for their deeds will follow them’” Rev. 14:13.

Will there be a need to rest?

Will we work in Heaven?

30. Work was a part of the first perfect human life on earth.

Gen. 2:15 “Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to” ______________________________________________________________.

31. This assignment was given to man (before or after) the Curse—the affects of sin. So work (is or is not) a part of the Curse. (Gen. 3:17-19).

32. In Heaven we will ____________ God. Rev. 22:3 “And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him.” NKJV

Scripture reveals that Jesus described the kingdom of Heaven as when a faithful servant enters Heaven, he is offered not retirement but this: “Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord” (Matt. 25:23; Luke 19:17). What task is mentioned here? _________________. (See 2 Timothy 2:12; Revelation 2:26; Revelation 5:10 ) Will there be a need to rest? ________ Will we work? _______ Since work began before sin and the Curse, and since God, who is without sin, is a worker, we could assume that we will not be bored, but will be busy on the New Earth.

How old will we be in Heaven?

Will we all appear to be the same age?

Will an aborted baby be any older in Heaven? Will a child who dies at age six appear that age in Heaven? Will the man who dies at eighty appear to be eighty as he walks the New Earth? Will children grow up to be older in Heaven?

By the late thirteenth century, the church’s emerging consensus was this: “As each person reaches their peak of perfection around the age of 30, they will be resurrected, as they would have appeared at that time—even if they never lived to reach that age.” God made Adam and Eve as mature adults!

33. Isaiah 11:6-9 speaks of the “Earth” (v.9) where the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and _________________ shall lead them.   The _________________ shall play by the snake’s hole, and _____________ _________________________ shall put his hand in a deadly snake’s nest.   They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain. Isaiah 65:17-25 is a parallel Scripture to this.

Perhaps children will be allowed to grow up on the New Earth. Believing parents, then, would presumably be able to see their children grow up. We could speculate that it’s possible that parents whose hearts were broken through the death of their children will not only be reunited with them but will also experience the joy of seeing them grow up in a perfect world.

34. How do you think the babies aborted by non believers will be cared for? ______________ _________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________
