BioSpherix( Hypoxia Chamber with Alpha Irradiator

Our laboratory is equipped with a custom-made incubator where the partial tension of oxygen can be altered and tightly controlled. This equipment, manufactured by Biospherix, Ltd., integrates the latest advances in oxygen monitoring. It is equipped with dissolved oxygen sensors that are designed to not consume oxygen as well as with controllers for humidity, carbon dioxide and temperature. Oxygen concentration can be controlled at normobaric pressure to within 0.1% of any single set point over the entire 0.1 – 99.9% range. Long-term tissue culture where cells can progressively adapt to various oxygen tension conditions can be achieved in this chamber. Of particular significance, a small alpha-particle irradiator, also manufactured by Biospherix, Ltd., is housed inside the chamber and hence any stress that cells would normally incur during transportation from the culture chamber to the irradiator will be minimized. These overall attributes allow better control of many of the variables that can impact our cell culture studies.
