August 14, 2018CelebrationsLa Marque High School and Texas City High School students who finished up graduation requirements received their diplomas and were certified as graduates of their respective schools.Spring 2018 State Assessment Results and Accountability Ratings reviewedDeputy Superintendent Sam Myers shared the accountability report with the board. Guajardo Elementary received 5 out of 5 distinctions from TEA. Out of all the schools across the state, Guajardo was one of 400 schools to receive this honor. Heights Elementary, Kohfeldt Elementary and Blocker Middle School also each earned TEA distinctions. Due to Hurricane Harvey, TEA is not officially rating TCISD. However, based on the A-F model, if TCISD were given a rating, it would have received a rating of C. TCISD partners with Foundations School Wide discipline projectIf academic progress is to be accomplished we know that students must be orderly, responsive, engaged and motivated. Safe &?Civil Schools Foundations is a comprehensive approach to the management of student behavior that incorporates best practices with the needs of individual schools. Through the work of campus teams, the Foundations procedures will guide school staff through the process of designing a proactive and positive school wide discipline plan that addresses:?discipline policies and procedures, school climate and culture, school safety, student-staff interactions, student motivation, and academic engagement.2018-19 Budget & Tax Rate adoptedTrustees reviewed the final budget update. They ended up approving the final budget totaling $83,941,770 million on August 28, 2018.
