DB2 Personal Developer Edition V8



Note: You cannot use ghosting or disk imaging to install this software. You must install the software on each machine separately.

1. Ensure that you do not have a user created with the username wasadmin.

2. Copy the contents of the DB2 CD to the hard drive of the computer.

3. Go into the directory where the DB2 CD was copied to and run setup.exe.

4. Press Install Product at the first screen.

5. Press Next to select DB2 UDB Express.

6. Wait while DB2 prepares the setup. At the first screen of the DB2 setup select Next.

7. Accept the terms of the license.

8. Select the typical install and press Next.

9. Leave the default installation directory and press Next.

10. Enter wasadmin for the username and password. Be sure to leave the domain property empty. Press the Next button. Press Yes if asked to create the user.

11. Press Next to accept the defaults under the configure DB2 instances.[pic]

12. Press Next to the install summary page and press Install

13. Wait a bit while the software installs. Press Finish when the software installation is complete.

14. If you are prompted to check for updates click No.

15. Close the First Steps utility if it opens.

16. Restart the machine.

17. Once the machine restarts, login as the user ‘wasadmin’ with the password of ‘wasadmin’.

18. Start the DB2 First Steps program by selecting Start -> Programs -> IBM DB2 -> Set-up tools -> First Steps.

19. Select create a sample database.

20. Check the DB2 UDB Sample and press OK. Wait a bit while it creates the database.

21. Click OK on the confirmation of creating the database.

22. Close DB2 First Steps window.

23. Open a command line processor by selecting Start -> Programs -> IBM DB2 ­> Command Line Tools -> Command Line Processor.

24. At the DB2 prompt type:

db2 => connect to sample user wasadmin using wasadmin

db2 => select * from employee

25. Make sure you see the screen below displaying all the information in the employee table.

26. Type quit and then exit to close the Command Line Processor.
