3. Minutes from January 3 2008 Conference Call

1. Agenda

• Attendance (Steve)

• Check to see if anyone is not familiar with the IEEE patent policy

• Data Traffic Model (Shahar)

• Simulation Parameters (Paul)

• New business

2. Notes

• Shahar reviewed document 08/1r0 document on data traffic model

• Paul suggested rewording the phrase “parsing time”

• Shahar will check the 16m document and possibly modify document 08/1r0

• Section 7.1.2 lists many inter-arrival times. It might make sense to tabulate these with the average offered load and whether it is mandatory or optional.

• We agreed that the best way to finalize the simulation parameters document is to do a final review using written comments. So we will start to collect written comments after the Interim meetings starting on January 31

• We also agreed to review the simulation results at the March Plenary meeting.

• Paul plans to run simulations for the UCP and Shahar plans to run simulations for both the coordinated coexistence and the UCP

• Steve agreed to produce an outline for the 16h CA document

• Schedule

- Jan 31, next call. Start collection of comments on documents

- Feb 14 call, start resolving comments

- Feb 28 call, resolve comments, finalize document

- Mar 13 call, prepare for Plenary

- Mar 17-21 Plenary meeting, review simulation results and CA document

4. Minutes from January 31 2008 Conference Call

1. Agenda

• Attendance (Steve)

• Check to see if anyone is not familiar with the IEEE patent policy

• Simulation Parameters (Paul)

• Coexistence Metrics (Steve)

• Outline of 802.16h CA document (Steve)

• Discuss Electronic Commenting Process (All)

• New business

2. Notes

• Reviewed simulation parameters document (doc 802.19-07/11r13). Two small changes made since the last conference call

• Reviewed updated Coexistence Metrics document (doc 802.19-07/20r2) which added a metric on packet error rate

- Action Item – Add text in Coexistence Metrics document on how to determine if there is a packet error (Steve)

• We reviewed the outline with a new version from Mariana (doc 802.19-08/3r1)

- Marianna suggested adding a section on coexistence mechanisms in 802.11y and a simulation of 802.11y with another 802.11y network with different bandwidths

• We discussed the electronic commenting process

- It will cover the simulation parameters document and the coexistence metric document

- The comments will be due by Feb 26. People are encouraged to get in some of their comments before the Feb 14 conference call so we can start discussing them. This would give us three conference calls (Feb 14, Feb 28 and Mar 13) before the Plenary meeting to complete discussion on the comments.

- The process for addressing comments will be consensus and if necessary straw polls

5. Minutes from February 14 2008 Conference Call

1. Agenda

• Attendance (Steve)

• Check to see if anyone is not familiar with the IEEE patent policy

• Discuss Plans for March meeting

• New business

2. Notes

• We decided to hold two two-hour meeting on the topic of coexistence of 11y and 16h

• We picked time slots that do not conflict with 11n/11y/16h

o Tuesday PM1

o Wednesday PM2

• We did not decide whether it is a 802.19 meeting or a joint 16h/19 meeting. That is really up to the 16h members

• Topics to include on the agenda for that meeting are,

o Review comments on sim and metrics documents

o Review preliminary CA document

• Steve will send out a reminder next week that the comments on the simulation and metrics documents are due on February 26.

• Next call is February 28

6. Minutes from February 28 2008 Conference Call

1. Agenda

• Attendance (Steve)

• Check to see if anyone is not familiar with the IEEE patent policy

• Review Compiled Comments

• New business

2. Notes

• Agreed on procedure for resolving comments

o Discuss each comment

o If a comment can be resolved within 5 min then record resolution

o If a comment cannot be resolved within 5 min then mark “Deferred” and move on

o After we have gone through all comments once, we return to the deferred comments

• Began to resolve comments

• Next call is Monday March 10, for two hours

7. Minutes from March 10 2008 Conference Call

1. Agenda

• Attendance (Steve)

• Check to see if anyone is not familiar with the IEEE patent policy

• Review Compiled Comments

• New business

2. Notes

• We completed going though the list of comments on the Simulation Document. A number of comments were differed and so will still need to be addressed.

• Revision 2 (R2) of the comment spreadsheet has been uploaded to the document server.

8. Minutes from April 3 2008 Conference Call

1. Agenda

• Attendance (Steve)

• Review Compiled Comments

• New business

2. Notes

• Resolved comments on Simulation Parameter document. Completed going through all comments once.

• The next step is to resolve all “deferred” comments on the simulation parameters document and the coexistence metrics document.

• We are going to consider moving the calls to a different day so it does not overlap with 802.11 VHT. Steve will send out an email to see which days look best.

9. Minutes from April 17 2008 Conference Call

1. Agenda

• Attendance (Steve)

• Review Compiled Comments

• New business

2. Notes

• Ahmed reviewed documents 08/06r0 and 08/10r0 on path loss models

• Shahar reviewed document 08/11r0 on the SUI path loss model

• Both models (Hata and SUI) were not originally intended for BS-BS and MS-MS antenna heights. So in each case we are extrapolating outside the original ranges for these parameters.

• We decided to use the Hata models. Ahmed needs to update document of 08/06r0 to make the base station height to 25 meters. Also include the 10 meter MS height.

10. Minutes from May 1 2008 Conference Call

1. Agenda

• Attendance (Steve)

• Comment Resolution (All)

• Updates to the Simulation Parameters document (Paul)

• New business

2. Notes

• Steve to email Mariana about the action items she has on the Coexistence Metrics comments. She is to provide text in several places

• Steve to revise Coexistence Metrics document according to accepted comment resolutions.

• Steve to check with Mariana if she is okay with Section 6.3.2.1 in document 802.19-07/11r14, which has been rewritten

• Paul to check with Ahmed on the integration of the unified path loss model into 802.19-07/11r14. Does it look okay?

• Steve to email out the conference call schedule after the Interim meetings.

• Plan is to have these two documents completed by the time of the interim and between the interim and the plenary simulations and presentations can be prepared to be reviewed at the Plenary.

11. Minutes from June 3 2008 Conference Call

1. Agenda

• Attendance (Steve)

• Finalize Comment Resolution (All)

• New business

2. Notes

• We finalized comment resolution on the simulation parameter document

• Marianna to provide text for the coexistence metrics document by June 15

• We will decide on the next call if the Channel Occupancy metric is mandatory or optional

• We decided that we should schedule two two-hour time slots for this topic at the July Plenary (avoid 802.11 VHT time slots)

12. Minutes from June 17 2008 Conference Call

1. Agenda

• Attendance (Steve)

• Finalize Comment Resolution (All)

• New business

2. Notes

• We discussed the document from Marianna on Medium Occupancy metric

• Paul requested time to review this document

• We decided to meet next week instead of on July 1

• Meet two times in Denver

• Will eliminate Successful Medium Occupancy metric

• Original Hidden Node probability definitions are mandatory, the new definitions will be optional

• Next week both these two documents (simulation parameters and coexistence metrics) will be finalized.

• At the Denver meeting we will review simulation results

13. Minutes from August 5 2008 Conference Call

1. Agenda

• Attendance (Steve)

• Discuss “Medium Occupancy Metric” (All)

• Updated simulation results (Marianna)

• New business

2. Notes

• Summarized the Denver discussion on the Medium Occupancy metric

o Considers only time domain

o Does not currently consider Power

o Does not currently consider Spatial dimension – directional antennas

o MIMO interference cancelation

o Frequency for OFDMA

• Simulations should be done at network level and not only between two cells – multi-cell deployment

• When discussing interference – we need to consider harmful interference

• Marianna - Consider percentage of harmful interference

• Eldad – If one network is susceptible to interference it may make the other network look like it is not coexisting well

• Marianna – Need to look if we need this metric given the other metrics

• Ahmed suggested a minimum susceptibility level for the networks

• Had a discussion on how to measure harmful interference

• Richard discussed fairness criteria in which if one system has higher throughput then it should get the higher throughput when sharing the spectrum. Fairness is a ratio of their throughput after sharing to the throughput before sharing

• We can add this throughput ratio metric to the document
