IEEE Technology and Engineering Management Society (TEMS)Application Form for Vice President of Conferences TEMS Board of Governors (BoG).Position Description:TEMS Officers take on a position of senior leadership in the Society. Candidates are expected to engage actively in the growth and development of Membership, Conferences, Publications and Technical Activities. For the term 2022-2023, TEMS BoG will appoint the President-Elect and Vice presidents for three positions, Conferences, Education and Publications.The Vice President Conferences shall be responsible for the development, coordination and oversight of all Society conference activities and events including developing conference strategy, establishing and supervising of conference committees, developing of conference policies, developing partners, and recommending suitable sites for future conferences, The Vice President Conferences is responsible for assuring that all IEEE conference documents are processed in a timely manner. The Vice President Conferences shall submit an annual plan as well as at least a three-year schedule of the Society’s annual flagship conference and an annual report to the Society ExCom as described in the Society Operations Manual.The VP of Conferences must manage the budgets for the events including discovering innovative ways of delivering value to the stake holders of conferences. Conferences must cooperate with other areas of TEMS including publications, technical activities, and membership; they are a critical value proposition to the society. The Vice President position is a 2-year commitment, with an opportunity to be elected a second time. The Vice President has critical leadership roles for the society. For your information: Issues important to TEMS.TEMS Objectives: The TEMS objectives shall be scientific, literary, and educational, directed toward the advancement of: (a) the theory of management of organizations with engineering or technical content, and the allied arts and sciences and (b) the practice of engineering and technology management as a professional discipline.Activities: The Society shall promote cooperation and exchange of information on the theory and practice of management among its members. To these ends, the Society shall hold meetings for the presentation of papers and their discussion and publication, publish books and periodicals, and through its committees shall conduct studies and otherwise provide for and promote the interests of its members. The Society shall also promote training, education, and other activities designed to prepare engineers to practice the engineering and technology management discipline and to assist them with their transition to the discipline. The society focuses on activities in 4 main areas including publications, conferences, technical activities, and membership. This includes Education that spans all 4 areas. TEMS Field of Interest: The Field of Interest of the TEMS encompasses the management sciences and practices required for defining, implementing, and managing engineering and technology. Specific topics of interest include, but are not limited to technology policy development, assessment, and transfer; research; product design and development; manufacturing operations; innovation and entrepreneurship; program and project management; strategy; education and training; organizational development and human behavior; transitioning to management; and the socioeconomic impact of engineering and technology management.Application for TEMS BoG OfficerApplication Requirements: An Officer accepts total responsibility for leading the function for which appointed.
