The work that you produce for this project will be considered for entry into this exhibition. You have been asked to explore the theme ‘structures’ this could involve looking at plants, architecture, organic forms or manmade objects. Using the mediums of photography, printmaking and digital manipulation you are expected to create a series of experimental work in response to this theme. You are then asked to create a final piece, in relation to your chosen discipline. Your final piece should be a development of your research and experiments and be suitable for exhibition. Task 1 – ResearchPrimary research Take a series of photographs (at least 20) these photos will form the basis of your project so make them good! Produce at least 4 drawings using a variety of mediums in response to the theme. Secondary researchCreate one of the following: a mood board, Pinterest board, Tumblr, scrapbook use this to collect at least 30 secondary images from at least two different sources this could be magazines, websites, newspaper clippings, objects.Reference: Make a note of any websites/magazines/books you use to collect this information, put this information clearly in your sketchbook. Look at a range of printmakers, digital artists and photographers. These can be from a range of disciplines fine art, graphic design, photography, textiles and fashion. You should research at least 6 different artists. Include pictures of their workAnnotate and analyse their work and explain how it has influenced your own work. Identify the skills/techniques/processes required by these artists to produce their work How they use these to communicate their ideas. Write up your thoughts and opinions about their work.Use your Dairy Dictionary, keywords list and the ‘how to annotate artists work’ sheet to help with this.Evidence you must submit for this: Research into at least 6 artists and designers. Task 3 – PrintmakingResearch into the historical and contemporary context of printmaking, How has this technique evolved over time? What impact did the printing press, arrival of paper technology, Second World War and digital technology have on printmaking? Find both historical and contemporary printmakers that relate to your chosen subject.Use your research to develop a range of prints using at least 4 of the following techniques: Lino printing Mono printingPlastic etchingScreen printingMetal EtchingStencillingCollagraphsHeat press. Document the process you have used through photographs and annotations in your sketchbook. Ensure that you review and analyse your work. Look at the work you have produced and create at least 6 more additional prints that are more experimental (non-traditional printmaking). These should show a clear development from you earlier work. You could think about combining printmaking techniques, repeat patterns, positive and negative images, printing onto alternative materials (wall paper, string, sandpaper, fabric, leaves etc…), using additional materials to print with, manipulating the composition or materials, considering how to use your prints in a 3D context. Document the process you have use through photographs and annotations in your sketchbook. From this you must design a final piece; this must include an element of printmaking and could also be combined with your photography and computer techniques. You need to complete at least 3 design ideas. You will need to clearly annotate theses designs. Your final piece should relate to your chosen discipline, below are some examples of what you could do (you can also come up with your own ideas):Fashion & Textiles: Produce 6 fabric print samples for a couture spring/summer collection based around the theme of structural forms. Graphic Design: Produce at least 2 images that could be used within advertising, based on the theme of structural formsFine Art: Produce at least 3 prints based on structural forms that would be suitable for a gallery exhibition. Illustration: Produce a set of at least 4 printed illustrative postcards that are based around your research into structural forms. Photography: Combine printmaking and photography to produce at least 3 experimental images on the theme of structural forms. You should document the process of making your final piece.
