Help for putting grades into INFINITE CAMPUS

INFINITE CAMPUS 101—a work in progress. . .

1. Log into Infinite Campus. Click on the “Lesson Planner” link under the Instruction category. This will allow you to set up the weights and categories for your grades.

2. Click on “Term Term 6 Course Final Averages” and check the box for weighting and choose the “Numeric 100” grading scale as shown below. Click on the “Save” button.

3. Now click on the plus sign next to the “Term Term 6 Course Final Averages.” Notice that it shows “Term Term 3 Semester Final Averages” and “Term Term 6 Semester Final Averages.” Set up the weights and numeric 100 grading scale in BOTH of these terms just like we did earlier in Step 2. Don’t forget to SAVE!!!

4. Before we can add new assignments, we have to tell Infinite Campus (IC) what kinds of categories we have for grades (Daily, Tests, HW, CW, Labs, Participation, etc.). Click on the “Term Term 3 Semester Final Averages” and choose “New Task Group” as pictured below. Type the name and weight of your grade category. Check the “Term Term 3 Semester Final Average” box AND the “Term Term 6 – Semester Final Average” at the bottom as well. Then click on the “Save” button.

5. Once all of your grade categories are set up, you can add an assignment. First click the Gradebook link in the Instruction category. A Java screen will come up briefly, and then the gradebook will load. Make sure you choose the “Term 3 – Semester Final Average” from the drop-down box as shown below. Otherwise, your grades will appear in the incorrect term. (Also make sure the drop-down box at the top has the correct class section on it, otherwise you will add the assignment to the wrong class.) **Computer Services is aware that the wrong terms come up as the default for IC. They are working with the vendor to correct this issue so that the correct term always comes up first.

6. Right-click on one of the categories you have just set up. Click where it says “New Assignment.” This is the easiest way to add a new assignment. (I’ll cover the other method in Infinite Campus 102, later in the year.) (

7. Now you can type in the assignment information, and select what group (Daily, Tests, Exam, etc.) that you want to put it in. For the name, I put the worksheet name, test name, page from the book, etc. For the abbreviation, I used CW1, T2, HW4, and so on, just to remind me what category it was in. Sequence refers to the order it will appear in on IC. All assignments are grouped by category, and then sequenced by what numbers we choose.

8. The last step is to enter in the grades!!! There are some cool features to IC, such as the ability to add comments on to grades for each child’s assignment. For example, when I right-click on the first box, it gives me options to add to Anthony’s grade, such as if it was late, incomplete, etc. Don’t forget to use the SAVE button often.

9. Once we’ve created an assignment, we also can right-click on the assignment to find more options, such as filling the column with one grade, clearing out the scores, adding a new assignment, etc.

This is meant to be a small help to you for using Infinite Campus. I will continue to learn and pass on what I learn to you. Feel free to ask me questions or share things that you have learned as well. Keep checking for your e-mail for information INFINITE CAMPUS 102, which will include directions for copying assignments to other class periods, etc. ( Have fun!
