Lloyd Wilson Centennial Arena
15551 McLaughlin Road, Inglewood
In response to the success of last year's hikes, the 2017 Hike for Bethell Hospice has been amalgamated into one huge event at a new, larger location in Inglewood.
Participants will enjoy the same beautiful hike route along the Caledon Trailway, but our gathering point will be at the south end of Inglewood at the Lloyd Wilson Centennial Arena.
More space, more parking ? same great cause!
All the elements you love are back again this year ? a memory board for photos and inspirational quotes, balloons filled with messages of remembrance, live entertainment, a great post-hike barbecue, fabulous hike t-shirts, and a beautiful walk with others who share your commitment to the importance of Bethell Hospice in our community.
Held annually during National Hospice & Palliative Care Week, all proceeds from the Hike for Bethell Hospice directly support Bethell Hospice residence and community care programs. Many thanks to all the teams and individual hikers who together raised over $130,000 at last year's hike, and to the volunteers who make the event possible. With your help, we can do it again! Sign up and start gathering pledges early! To register yourself or your team, or to sponsor a hiker, please visit us online at

Light Up the Runway Walk
Please join us on Thursday, August 3 for the fourth annual Light Up the Runway Walk. Last year, this beautiful event raised over $27,300 for Bethell Hospice Foundation.
Organized by the Brampton Flight Centre, event participants gather pledges of support and light the flight centre runway with candles in honour of someone special. Memorial candles are also available to commemorate the life of a friend or family member.
Light Up the Runway offers the unique opportunity to walk the area usually restricted for aircraft, as well as great entertainment and the chance to make a real difference in our community. And the view of the candle-lit runway is absolutely spectacular!
Register yourself or your team and gather pledges online by visiting the Brampton Flight Centre website at light-runway-walk

We are truly honoured by your generosity, and your belief in the importance of Bethell Hospice in our community.
Thank you all!

RESIDENT PROFILE
John Mason
A resident of Caledon since the early 1970s, John Mason spent his final weeks at Bethell Hospice in late 2015.
His wife, Helen, recently shared their experience:
When care at home became too challenging, and with John's mobility and brain function already becoming major issues, the family was invited to visit Bethell House where we found a welcoming, caring, non-judgemental environment that literally welcomed us with open arms. And I mean `us' as our family of John, myself, three children and spouses, and six grandchildren suddenly became part of the Bethell Hospice family.
"We were treated with compassion, care and, most of all, love".
Bethell became a home away from home for the grandchildren who quickly discovered the playroom and, even more importantly, where to find the cookies. Later, one grandson remarked "the best thing about Bethell, apart from DaDad, was the cookies".
John stayed at Bethell Hospice for seven weeks, during which we found nothing to be too much trouble for the staff and volunteers. He mentioned that he needed a hair cut, and the next day one of the staff brought in her hairdressing equipment. Another day, John thought he would like a steak for dinner. A kitchen volunteer prepared it perfectly and brought it to our room with a glass of wine, provided by another volunteer. Some of the family always ate dinner in the dining room, often with a glass of the same wine.
The care and love has continued through the year since John died. The bereavement support group was incredibly helpful and, even though I was hesitant to attend, I am so glad that I did. I also find comfort in making a visit back to Bethell to sit in the lounge, drink a cup of tea and remember.
To all the staff and volunteers ? you turned a difficult experience into something for which our family will be forever grateful. Thank you for all the hugs, shoulders to cry on, and endless cups of tea.
"Thank you so much to the wonderful staff, nurses and PSWs at Bethell Hospice. I could not have asked for more compassionate human beings to help aid my gramma and her family during this transition phase in our lives. My family is so grateful for the way you honoured my grandmother".
Surjit's Granddaughter, Parveen
