The school will be closed to Year 10 students tomorrow ...

[Pages:1]18th March 2020

Dear Parents/Carers

Whilst we have been able to keep the school fully open today, we have an increasing number of teachers and support staff absent either because of illness or self-isolation. As a consequence, we need to partially close the school tomorrow and on Friday. Decisions about next week will be made as soon as possible.

To spread the impact of staff absence, the school will be closed to Year 10 students tomorrow (Thursday) with the exception of Hair & Beauty students who will continue their exam at Saltash Community College. The school will be closed to Year 9 students on Friday. This means we can keep our examination students in school as well as our youngest students (to lessen the implications of child-care arrangements for parents). Students are asked to follow the instructions given in the link below. Should the situation continue into next week, teachers will provide specific work for each class via Show My Homework.

As the situation is an ever-changing one, these arrangements for a partial closure may need to alter. We will keep you updated accordingly.

Please note that all scheduled exams this week and next for Year 11 (Art, Photography, Textiles) are still planned to go ahead.

In addition, we have brought in new restrictions to reduce visitors to the school site. We have postponed our planned Y8 parents' evening and Easter Fayre. After school clubs and PE fixtures have also been cancelled for the remainder of this term. Parents with urgent queries about their child's education should contact the relevant teacher or member of the pastoral team either by phone or email.

Along with senior leaders in the school, I will keep parents fully up-dated about our management plans. Our priorities remain, as always, the safety and well-being of our students and the highest quality of education provision.

I would like to thank all our parents for their continued support and understanding.

Yours sincerely

Alex Lingard Head Teacher
