Dear Parents/Carers

Coronavirus update ? School closure.

Further to my conversation this morning with Wiltshire Local Authority about the Government guidance that was released last night, we have made the difficult decision to close the school with effect from tonight. The school will be closed tomorrow and following advice from the Local Authority, will not be open before the end of the Easter Holidays.

As always, safeguarding of pupils and staff is of paramount importance and we feel that the measures we have taken are necessary to ensure that this is maintained.

We have made this decision because the number of staff who either self-isolating or unwell has reached levels where it is unsustainable to keep the school open. Currently, we have 26 members of staff who, from tomorrow, are catergorised as self-isolating and therefore have to follow the social distancing measures as outlined by the government ? as detailed in the `Guidance on social distancing for everyone in the UK and protecting older people and vulnerable adults' (16th March 2020).

Teachers are already planning for how learning can continue by sign-posting Parents and Carers to a range of activities via the school website. From next week, there will be regular updates on class pages. Please continue to view the school website for further information. Obviously, work completed will not be viewed or marked by the teacher, but we feel that it is important that the children continue with their learning as much as possible.

Although closed to pupils, the school will continue to communicate with you when necessary. Should you need to contact us, please do so in the usual way, preferably via email admin@greentrees.wilts.sch.uk

Thank you for your support at this really challenging time and we hope that you and your family members stay fit and well. Rest assured that we will give you regular updates as we receive further advice from the Local Authority as to when we are able to re-open.
