Pioneering Health Care Boost for South Eastern Jamaica

International Standard Imaging Centre expands services in Morant Bay St. Thomas

Health practitioners were on Saturday July 14 introduced to Eastern Imaging Associates a new company offering CT Scan and X ? Ray services at the Dynamic Imaging Centre 14 Miramar Drive Morant Bay. At the opening the Minister of Health the Hon. Fenton Ferguson within whose constituency the facility is located expressed his profound appreciation at the entrepreneurship that has served to enhance the health care facilities available in Morant Bay, St Thomas and South Eastern Jamaica in general.

The blessing and dedication were led by the Rev. Trevor Edwards, Baptist tutor of the United Theological College of the West Indies (UTCWI) and Chaplain at UWI-Mona, husband of the Managing Director. The Hon. Minister together with the Managing Director of the Facility, Dr Sharon Earle Edwards, cut the ribbon signalling the official opening.

The Minister's greetings heralded others from eminent citizens which included a message from the Hon. Dr. Lynvale Bloomfield MP East Portland and brief addresses from Dr. Cecil Batchelor SMO Princess Margaret Hospital and Dr. Sundeep Shah, the President of the Jamaica Association of Radiologists.

Speakers hailed the visionary move which represented the best of the partnership between public and private sector.

The vista for the afternoon was complemented by some artistic offerings including a live band and a poem "Arise" written by Mr. Ad? Brown and read by Mr Fran?ois Brown, sons of the director. The office has an ocean view, is right across from the Morant Villas Hotel, one of (if not the oldest) hotels in St. Thomas and is five minutes from the Princess Margaret Hospital. There are also 3 different doctors' offices at 14 Miramar Drive: Dr. Cecil Batchelor, General Surgeon/SMO of Princess Margaret Hospital; Dr. Wright-James, Paediatrician and Miramar Health-Care, the home of Dynamic and Eastern Imaging which also houses a dental office, an ophthalmology practice, the general practice of Dr. William Brown and a medical laboratory.

Dr. Sharon Earle Edwards, Consultant Radiologist and Medical Director of Eastern Imaging Associates gave thanks to God even as she updated the audience of the challenges that were faced in the realisation of this vision and the partnership between investors, specialists, team members and most importantly the public for whom the facility is designed. ray are able to take advantage of modern technology and produce images which can be stored on CDs and or

transmitted via the internet. This facilitates remote reporting by other radiologists and means prompt

service delivered by some of the best available radiologists in the country.

Mr. Lyttleton Shirley, Chairman of the South Eastern Regional Health Authority (SERHA) shared in the moment also with the cutting of the cake and the evening was expertly guided by noted Attorney-atLaw and radio host of Balancing Justice and Operation Justice Andr? Earle.
