Student Transfer Instructions

All transfer applications must be submitted through the district's Web site. Parents/Guardians who do not have a computer with Internet access may go to a JCPS school for assistance or visit the Parent Assistance Center at the Lam Building located at 4309 Bishop Lane. District staff will help guide parents/guardians through the process.

To access and complete the transfer application go to jefferson.kyschools.us.

1. Click on the green "Register & Apply" at the top left hand corner.

2. Click on "Current Student" or "New Student". (If your child or family is new to JCPS and you have not registered, you should complete Online Registration. After completing Online Registration you will be given a Portal Activation Key that can be used to log in and apply.)

3. Click on "Complete a Student Transfer Application".

4. To complete the transfer application, parents/guardians must have a:

? Parent Portal account (with user name and password) Or

? The Portal Activation Key (GUID). The GUID is the same key that employees provide to parents/guardians who are completing a magnet or cluster application or setting up a Portal account. (Must use capital letters and 0's are all zeros, not the letter O.)

Important things to remember Applications will be considered in the order in which they are received. Approval is based on - space; needs of the student; the student's academic, attendance, and disciplinary records; childcare; extenuating circumstances; assignment of the student's siblings; and the district's diversity guideline. The race of an individual student is not used as a factor to grant or deny a student's transfer application.
