This Job Description is intended to identify the key responsibilities of a generic Business Development position. Any specific programme responsibilities the Partnerships and Business Development Manager is allocated will be set out in separate Role Descriptions.

Overall Purpose The Partnerships and business Development Manager is responsible for managing INASP's business development activities, significantly contributing to the development of new programme partnerships and funding opportunities.

They are expected to develop and implement fundraising strategies including new partnership and funder liaison.

Establishing and managing relationships, both internally and externally is a key element of this job.

Key Responsibilities

Business development

In liaison with appropriate senior staff/teams:

? Develop and manage the implementation of an overall fundraising strategy and plan which includes a diverse range of funding streams

? Investigate and contribute to strategic decisions in relation to developing alternate income streams (consultancy, philanthropists etc.)

? Identify and track funding prospects as they arise and maintain the appropriate tracking tools

? Play a key role in the development and maintenance of INASP's CRM database of potential funders, consultants and partners for business development

? Report to Senior Management Team (SMT) and the Board on progress against fundraising targets

? Develop and support new and current partnership engagements including identifying and building relationships with prospective collaborative partners on bids

? Develop and manage positive and constructive relationships with potential funders and internal and external stakeholders, including meeting stakeholders and funders on own or with programme staff

? Manage INASP's engagement in active frameworks and consortia, including maintaining relationships with other framework/consortia participants and consultants, coordinating meetings where required.

? Oversee and support the development of concept notes and proposals as appropriate in liaison with Finance and Programme teams by managing the bid

process, contributing to technical proposal development and budgeting, and developing commercial strategies for bids.

? Keep up to date with existing and potential INASP programmes and those of our competitors

? Working closely with marketing & communications colleagues to develop familiarity with the requirements of key funders, the language used, and funding specifications to inform the preparation of excellent commercial and technical bids

? Keep up to date with charity legislation and funder requirements with respect to fundraising (for instance IATI compliance etc.) and alerting appropriate senior staff

? Develop and maintain appropriate business development tools and processes as needed

? Develop and maintain key resources to support programme bids including standing documents, databases of activity costs and day rates, database of financial and other relevant policies

Staff Management & Leadership ? Support INASP staff and consultants to achieve business development goals and support the business development activities of the Organisation ? (If managing staff) actively manage staff performance, development and collegiality, addressing issues appropriately as they arise ? Ensure you and the staff that you manage understand roles, responsibilities and lines of accountability and are supported to work within a matrix management model ? Actively seek opportunities to develop your own leadership skills

General ? Work flexibly across the Marketing and Programme teams, and projects where required ? Work closely with INASP staff and other partners to ensure learning is captured and shared internally and externally ? Build INASP's and your individual profile by contributing to think-pieces, speaking at conferences and other means of external communication ? Ensure the values of respect, integrity, openness and transparency, commitment, participation, and valuing our staff are reflected in your work ? Any other responsibilities as may reasonably be required from time to time

This post may require travel up to 40 days per year.
