FFVF Signatures of Endorsement

One must come from the academic community and the other from the student’s activities within the community. The academic endorsement would be a teacher, counselor, or administrator. Youth Freedom and Leadership Conferences - 2019

THE CONFERENCE: High school juniors from Pensacola area high schools (Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties) are eligible to apply for a scholarship to participate in the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge Youth Freedom and Leadership Conference. Students will spend four unforgettable days in historic Valley Forge and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, hearing motivational speakers and participating in leadership development activities. Students will also tour historic sites in Valley Forge and in Philadelphia.

WHEN: Selected students and chaperone(s) will attend the conference scheduled for:

April 11-14, 2019

APPLICATION: Applications are open to Pensacola area (Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties) High School Juniors. Applications should include: (1) Freedoms Foundation Application; (2) Most recent high school transcript; (3) Two signatures of endorsement from non-relatives (one school person required); (4) One page resume of activities; and (5) essay. All applicants will be considered. Blank applications may be reproduced if needed. Applications must be received by January 11, 2019.

INTERVIEWS: Applicants will be contacted and an interview date will be arranged. Qualifications for selection include demonstrated leadership qualities, academic achievement, exemplary citizenship, community service, and potential to both contribute to and benefit from the experience.

NOTIFICATION: Notification of selection will be given in January 2019. Selected students and a parent will be required to attend a parent/student orientation meeting. The date of the meeting will be prior to the purchase of airline tickets probably in February 2019.

CONFERENCE FORMAT: Students and chaperones will fly to Philadelphia and be transported to the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge campus. Three days will be spent in intensive lecture/discussion sessions with outstanding government, business, and academic leaders, and students will tour the Valley Forge camp site, and historical buildings in Philadelphia. This is an academically challenging experience as well as an opportunity to interact with high caliber students from other states.

COST: Each student selected for the Youth Freedom and Leadership Conference at Valley Forge will receive a scholarship from the Pensacola Chapter of Freedoms Foundation which will cover conference expense as well as air travel cost.
