Will this be an easy hike or a challenging hike?
If you were going for a hike, you would probably want to know whether it would be easy or
hard. Would you have to climb a steep hill, or is the area flat? How could you find this
information?
Procedure
1. Obtain a map with elevation
information on it.
2. Plan two hikes that cover the same
distance on the map. Plan one easy hike
over flat terrain and one challenging
hike in which a hill will be climbed.
3. Share with a partner how both hikes
would be different. How are the
elevations of locations on your map
shown?
