Ellie DrennanLacey GalbraithJohn Overton High School4820 Franklin Road Nashville TN, 37220May 3, 2018Dear parents and Cambridge students, In an attempt to provide a jump-start to next year, we would like all students who are taking 10th grade IGSCE English Literature in 2019/2020 to complete a summer reading assignment. In alignment with the AICE Language and General Paper courses, we have selected a memoir. This year, students will read Trevor Noah’s best-selling memoir, “Born a crime: stories from a South African childhood.” This popular new title can be found at any bookstore, on Amazon, or at your local library. We do have a limited number of copies available for check-out through the school, if your student is timely in requesting a copy.On the back of this letter is an assignment to complete with the summer reading. If you bring the completed assignment on the first day of class, it will count as your first summative assessment. In addition, the first quarter will include content from the text, so the expectation is that students have read the material. Please look at the assignment before completing the text, as it will help you do a better job. You can visit the following website for more information about “Born A Crime” and for related reading. you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at: Ellie.drennan@ and HYPERLINK "mailto:lacey.galbraith@" lacey.galbraith@ Thank you, and have a wonderful summer!
