Dear Praying Mission Partners, July 1, 2016

We’re excited to share with you all the great things from the past months of May and June! Some lyrics that have been in my mind a lot lately are, “Great things He hath taught us. Great things He hath done!” I love singing that song, “To God be the Glory!”

After much praying, planning, and preparation the exciting time finally came for the ministry with Sis Julie’s group from Eyes on Christ! Sis Julie came over with her husband (Bro Alan) and a church member of theirs (Sis Tami) from their church in Indiana and they (along with Bro John and Sis Elizabeth) were an incredible blessing to the ministry here! Every day for five days patients at different locations received a free eye checkup, free glasses, free eye drops, and heard the Gospel and were given Gospel tracts. All in all there were over 700 people ministered to throughout the five days, praise God! Day one was at the location of our first Aeta church. Day two was at the location of our second Aeta church. Day three was at the location of Ptr Jeremiah Abay’s church in San Fernando, Pampanga. Day four was at the location of our church in Mexico, Pampanga. Day five was at the location of our church in Arayat, Pampanga where Ptr Jason is serving. Please pray for fruitful followup work with the people who came out to the clinics. By the grace of God we have seen church visitors at all of these locations as a result and there are already some people to be baptized who made professions of faith through the eye clinic ministry! Sis Julie’s group was an incredible blessing to us in many ways, including helping my wife get enough eyes medicines for her glaucoma to last an entire year. What a blessing it was to be able to spend so much time serving along their side and becoming good friends with these folks!

Please pray for a future opportunity to possibly have a medical mission team come here and do something similar to this. Bro John told me that he knows of some people who do this and we’re praying to make that happen. Such a ministry would be a phenomenal chance to share the Gospel with not just hundreds, but even thousands of Filipinos who would be otherwise difficult to reach!

Please pray continually for New Life Baptist Church in Mexico, Pampanga. By the grace of God she continues to do well and sees new professions of faith very regularly and 200 in attendance! That church will hopefully need to purchase some more pews soon and has nine more souls scheduled to be baptized soon, praise God! That church also had a recent two night revival that really charged up the people to get active in their service. Pastor Ramon Navaro, a wonderful pastor friend of mine from Bulacan, preached a powerful message, “Revival for Survival", on the first night and Bro Daryl preached a great challenge on the second night! God blessed with packed attendance on each of the two nights and new visitors who came out. We were also very blessed to see some foreign missionaries come through recently and that church has started supporting two more foreign missionaries (one in China and one in Vietnam) for a total of 17 foreign missionaries, along with her local mission works.

Our church in Mexico also recently held the graduation for their recent VBS. There were a total of 96 students who graduated. In order to graduate they had to complete all five days of VBS without any absences and attend every church service afterwards without any absences. The following Monday we took all of the VBS graduates out for a free swimming trip and had a great time fellowshipping with them! Please pray for all these youngsters as we strive to minister to them continually.

Please pray continually for our two Aeta churches and Bro Daryl as he currently leads both of them. The first Aeta church has been seeing attendance climb up to 80 recently (with four more to be baptized soon) and the second church has been seeing over 30 regularly (with five more to be baptized soon). Things are really progressing well there as members continue to be faithful and more and more visitors are being seen. Two of the youth members (who are also in the Aeta Bible School) are now handling the Sunday School ministry to the children as well as assisting at the second Aeta church! They also recently had their VBS ministry and Kristine, Josh, and I went out to assist with that as we saw nearly 100 attend. Our plans for next year will be for Bro Daryl and those two youth to conduct the VBS at the first church on their own and then perhaps we in the Ferguson family will conduct a VBS at the location of the second Aeta church. A special praise report is that the Lord provided Bro Daryl with a tricycle for the Aeta ministry! Bro Daryl’s single motorcycle was on its last dying breath so the Lord provided this good, second hand tricycle just at the right time! Please pray that it will be reliable for Bro Daryl’s ministry over the long haul.

Please pray for a third Aeta area where we currently have a weekly mission work. Kristine and I have been going out there every week to help Bro Daryl with that and we’ve been seeing over 30 adults and over 70 youngsters regularly coming to listen! There have been a lot of professions of faith out there and our prayer is to see this develop in time into our third Aeta church. I wish you could see all the people come running out of their huts to greet us when we come into that place! The kids make their own toy tops and love teaching us how to use them!

Please pray continually for our church in Arayat and Bro Jason as he leads that church. They have two more souls to be baptized soon and are planning on doing some work on their land before too long. Please pray for the Lord’s provision as they will start out by putting up a fence and then go from there. They also held a VBS ministry recently and by God’s grace had over 200 youngsters come out!

Please pray for our two Bible Colleges, one at our church in Mexico and the other with the Aeta. We currently have 10 students at Mexico at 7 at the Aeta school. I’m also excited because there is a young married couple at our church in Mexico who will be enrolling starting next semester, praise God! Please pray, above all, that the Lord will use these schools to produce more genuine missionaries and pastors, which is really our greatest overall ministry need. We have some good men currently studying in these schools so please pray for the Lord to call more of them into the ministry. By God’s grace some of these men are already preaching in church. If we had another person surrendered and prepared for the Aeta work we could develop our mission point into our third Aeta church very soon I believe. Also, there are so many places still here in the Philippines void of any true ministry and we want to be used by the Lord to fill that void. Please continue praying for one of our ultimate goals, to be able to send out foreign missionaries as well, especially to other Asian countries that are in desperate need of the Gospel. We have a Filipino missionary friend in Sri Lanka who recently visited us and he shared with us how desperate the situation is over there in Sri Lanka: 22 million people with only two missionaries, that report broke my heart. Praise God that he has a good ministry going on there in a very difficult nation to minister in.

Please pray for our weekly public school ministry. The school year is back up and running here in the Philippines and we will have the opportunity to once again share the Gospel to thousands of young people and see doors opened to families. We will be going back in to some of the schools very soon and we currently have ministry setup for three elementary schools and two high schools. There are over 10,000 students between these schools alone and we’re praying to teach in a couple more if possible.

Please pray for the Philippine Baptist Disaster Relief Ministry (PBDRM). The rainy season has officially begun in the Philippines and that means that it won't be too long before we start seeing Filipinos affected by the disasters of the typhoons. Please pray for the Lord to use these times of disaster to reach lost souls with the Gospel. Please pray also for more churches here to partner with the ministry. PBDRM currently has funds worth over US $1,000 available for immediate use during times of disaster here in the Philippines and we are praying to save up even more for this typhoon season. Our desire for PBDRM is also to see more local churches here in the Philippines supporting this ministry on a monthly basis. By the grace of God we have two more Filipino churches that recently got on board, Ancient Landmark Baptist Church in Plaridel, Bulacan (Ptr Ruben Glinoga) and Metrolight Gospel Baptist Church in Bustos, Bulacan (Ptr Ramon Navaro). I have yet to personally visit the good brethren at Ancient Landmark Baptist, yet they are already supporting this ministry with 1,000pesos per month! I just recently visited Metrolight Gospel Baptist to preach and also share PBDRM with them for a few moments and they immediately decided to become a partnering church of that ministry and gave a first time offering of 1,000pesos there on the spot. Both of these gracious churches are just two more churches that testify to the fact that the Filipino people are NOT too poor to give and that they can stand on their own feet and become truly independent, self-supporting, and give a significant amount of financial support towards missions! Both of those churches have purchased their own land and built their own church buildings without seeking any $$$ from America, their members are givers who are ready to sacrifice!

Please pray for a possible door of ministry I am looking at in the heart of Angeles City, Pampanga. I’ve been wanting to see something more happen in Angeles City for a long time now as there really hasn’t been much going on there. There are some “pastors” and church buildings there, but most of these “pastors” are looking for support from America, not souls here in the Philippines (ie, unsaved hirelings). I’ve been praying about the Lord using myself or one of our Bible students to get a new church planted in there, but I recently made a new friend (Ptr Jerry Quezon) who is the pastor at Angeles City Missionary Baptist Church, which is going on 63 years old and is in prime location. After all those years not much has happened. In fact, after the prior “pastor” was done there wasn’t even Sunday School left and most of the members who remained were the dead pharisee-type. Ptr Jerry (who has only been there for three years) wants to see the right thing happen though, including getting a Bible school going at his church. Ptr Jerry also told me that he hasn’t been through any formal Bible schooling himself and wants to go through ours. He’s not looking for financial assistance, rather spiritual advice and assistance and that is a good sign. He’s also a soul winner who is willing to go out and reach the lost. So for now, please pray for wisdom for me in this and that the Lord would use me to help get that church going in the right direction as I might be doing some preaching there in the near future. That church has the opportunity to reach a multitude of people in Angeles with the Gospel and become a truly mission-minded church.

In closing, we want to say thanks for the prayers and support for all of us here in the Ferguson family. We’re all doing really good. Josh just started 5th grade and is almost as tall as Kristine now! We recently had a wonderful one day family snorkeling trip and are blessed to be able to serve the Lord together as a missionary family!

Yours in Christ,

Ferguson Family

The young girl with her mother here were contacts made at our church in Mexico, Pampanga through the recent Eyes on Christ ministry with Sis Julie Luttrell Schoeff. Praise God the young girl has attended church several times since we met her at the eye clinic and brought her mother with her to church recently and these two will be baptized soon! We also have a weekly Bible study set at their home where the father is listening also.

Sharing the Gospel to High School students

[pic]

Thankful for these young believers. They regularly join us on Saturday mornings for soul winning. Just like the early Christians in the book of Acts, we regularly go house to house seeking to share the Gospel to every lost soul out there. Almost all of the members in our churches here in the Philippines are a product of our house to house evangelism ministry. It can be a very difficult and discouraging task, but the Lord has promised in Isaiah 55:11, "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void". We claim that promise every time we go out to witness the Gospel and we are also thankful to everyone who prays for us.

Thankful to the Lord for a new Canon G1000 printer with built-in continuous ink supply system! We will use this in our ministries here to print thousands of Gospel tracts as well as all of the materials for our two Bible schools. I used to manually inject ink into the cartridge in the old printer so this is going to be so much nicer!

I don't think you can find a friendlier and more hospitable group of people (in general) than the Filipino people! Ever since I landed here in 2003 I've been so blessed to have these people in my life as a family away from my family back in America. Throughout the years a lot of people here have given me free lodging, free food, and, above all, free friendship. Recently, some people who will be baptized in July at our church in Mexico came by and gave us these vegetables, super kind people!

Thanks to my incredible wife Kristine Ferguson and my son Josh for the special Father's Day gifts! Josh walked up to me during the Father's Day recognition time at church and handed me a bag with some special coupons attached and a very nice Borong shirt! I couldn't be more blessed!
