Recycled Fashion Show Rules

RECYCLING FASHION SHOW CRITERIA FOR CONSTRUCTION IS AS FOLLOWS:

Materials used in the construction of garments MUST be post-consumer, post-industrial, or post agricultural waste. Designers may use materials for construction such as glue, tape, dyes, marker, staples, thread, zippers, elastic, wire, string, Velcro, boning, buckram, grommets, laces, starch, paint, etc. Recycled fabric may only be used as a lining that doesn’t show. The usage of new material should not overpower your total garment. Footwear made from recyclable material is preferred; however’ street shoes are acceptable. Shoes must be safe to walk in. Garments must be constructed well enough to fit the model and hold together for the stage show. (Models are strongly encouraged to wear comfortable cloths beneath recycled garment). You can wear your garment or have someone else you choose wear it. Originality and creativity are encouraged. Recycled fashions must be made of at least 75% recycled or reused materials that otherwise would be thrown away or recycled.

WHAT WILL FASHION ENTRANTS BE JUDGED ON? We will be looking for garments and outfits that fit well and are appropriate for the member's age; that the choice of color, texture and style and accessories go together. 75% of the finished garment must have been reconstructed (i.e. sewing trim on old garment without changing its basic structure is not considered recycling.)

ENTRY FEE

RULES OF SUBMISSION

Submissions must be original and must be the work of the submitting Applicant. Applicants should keep in mind the fashion show will be held inside a school and children will be present. Fashions that are offensive, obscene or too revealing will not be allowed on the runway.

The outfit must allow the model to walk down the center aisle of the runway. Models can dress at the school instead of attempting to travel in a car in their outfit. Paul Mitchell will be doing hair and makeup for all models who participate. We encourage you to create fashions that are fun, creative and functional for normal activities, but if you wish be outrageous- that is acceptable as well. Be prepared for your designs to be repairable at the show in an emergency situation. Please keep in mind dress code and modesty for this event. Any inappropriate clothing will not be allowed.
