My Timeline Project - Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools

My Timeline Project

Due date:_______

History – the record of past events and times

Time Line- a line showing events in the order that they occurred

The Project: Since we are talking about history and time lines in this class we are going to do a timeline that represents your own life.

What you need on your timeline:

• 5-10 events of your past IN ORDER OF OCCURRENCE

• At least 5 events of the future

• 5-10 pictures (copies, preferably) or drawings IN COLOR of the events (past AND future)

What you need to do:

1. Brainstorm the most important events in your life up to this point

THE FIRST EVENT WILL BE THE DAY YOU WERE BORN. It will begin the timeline

Some other examples: When you started school; when you met your best friend; when you received something very valuable; when you moved; when you got a pet you really love; when you went some place special; any important event that has affected your life, etc.

2. Order those events using a timeline on a scrap piece of paper; write in complete sentences!

3. Once you have past events down, list FUTURE EVENTS.

**Be sure to predict the year! For example: What year are you going to:

Graduate from high school/college?

Get your first “real job”?

Get married? Have kids? Retire?

Become rich and famous?

The list goes on and on…..

4. Once you have all your events in order on a scrap piece of paper, then you should start putting down your timeline on a piece of white posterboard; a Powerpoint presentation is acceptable as well

**As an extra addition, you can add up to five interesting facts about your family you think it’d be good for me to know. List these in one of the corners (example: Grandpa fought in WWII)

**Your grade will be based on the following 4 criteria**:

-Quality

-Using complete sentences

-Having the required images

-Organization/Order of timeline

Have fun and good luck!
