Strength and Resilience
2020 ANNUAL REPORT
Strength and
Resilience
Wow, what a year!
Everyone has probably heard this countless times already-- 2020 was a year like no other. The largest pandemic in 100 years swept across the globe, reshaping life as we knew it. As we look back at last year, the word resilience is what comes to mind. No one could have anticipated
how resilient we would need to be. The pandemic turned our lives upside
down and tested us in so many ways. All of us had to adapt to the new
normal of wearing masks, working from home, taking care of loved ones, and for some losing
their jobs, and even loved ones. The pandemic impacted our cancer community in so many
ways. The image that we continue to think about is being diagnosed with cancer and not being
able to have your family and friends by your side. That will forever be etched in our minds.
David M. Becker
President & CEO
Angel Foundation showed our resilience and determination to help those in need by how we approached difficult situations realistically. We focused on tangible ways of tackling each challenge and moving forward. We knew it would be necessary to respond quickly to patients dealing with a cancer diagnosis compounded by the pandemic, so we created a special fund called Angel In Action to help lessen the financial impact for them and their families. We established new goals and took swift action to achieve them, knowing none of those goals would be accomplished without tremendous support from all of you- the individuals, companies, foundations, and organizations who ensured we could continue to deliver critical programs and services each and every day. To say thank you does not seem adequate, but we could not be more grateful.
The greatest essential aspect of building our resilience was our commitment to remain optimistic. It was sometimes tough to be positive when we faced so much uncertainty. And we can take comfort in the knowledge that it was resilience that carried us through. We remained hopeful and optimistic about a brighter future. As we look to the dawn of a new year, one in which we celebrate our 20th Anniversary, there's no telling what 2021 will bring. It will take continued commitment, care, and hard work, but our hope is that Angel will continue to grow and flourish in the next 20 years.
With Gratitude,
