THANKSGIVING

A special thanks to my Immanuel CRC family for all your cards, calls and expressions of sympathy in the recent passing of my sister-in-law and brother. Your kind words were much appreciated. Sincerely, Marcia Gemmen

The Pettinga family would give all thanks to the Lord for a successful surgery and recovery for Edwin! He came home this past Wednesday! He spent 7 weeks at Mary Free Bed and we are so grateful to our church family for all the extra support in the way of prayers, meals, cards and visits with Edwin! “Thank you” is such an inadequate a way to express our gratitude! Just know that you all mean the world to us. Getting pictures of the visits with Edwin made our day and created a bright spot during this stressful time!

Congratulations to Leah (Taylor) & William Doyle who were united in marriage on June 22 in Nashville, TN. They will be living in Clarksville, TN for the next 2 years while William finishes his service in the Army. May God bless their new life together!

PRAYER REQUESTS

We express our sympathy to Betty Northouse and family on the death of her husband, Bill, on July 8. Visitation with the family will be today from 2-5PM at Vander Laan Funeral Home. The funeral will be held Monday at 11AM at Vander Laan. May God comfort them with his peace and strength.

We express our sympathy to Dave & Dot Vruwink on the death of Dave’s brother, Mike, who passed away on July 6. May the Lord continue to comfort and uphold Mike’s family in this time.

Bob Boehm had surgery this past Tuesday to have his pacemaker replaced. Pray for regained health & strength.

Marcia Gemmen had hip replacement surgery this past Wednesday. When released, she will be moving to her sister’s home for 3-4 weeks until she can drive and manage stairs. She will be off from work for 12 weeks. Pray for a complete recovery.

Kristin Van Solkema had a biopsy of her left lung this past week to check the growth of amyloid in her system. Pray for God’s guidance for the doctors as they determine the best course of treatment.

Laurie Kooienga – stem cell transplant recovery

Joe Lems – severe back pain

Sharon Ondersma – M.S.

Clarence Pohler – hospice care

Clarence has been improving over the last few weeks and would welcome any visitors. He is at Sunset Manor – Room 292.

Pete Van Rijs – durable cancer remission

Bring Kids Hope!

Can you give one hour a week to mentor a kid at Park Elementary? Or can you pray for a mentor and a student each week? If you answered "YES" to either of those questions, please contact Evamarie Eggebeen and she will tell you how you can bring HOPE to a child starting this fall.  kidshope@

Presidential Estates Ministry Update &

Opportunities to Serve

Food Distribution:

We are in the process of switching the food distribution organization from Feeding America to Hungry for Christ.

We plan to distribute the third Wednesday of each month beginning in September. In the past, we had partnered with Sunrise Ministries, however moving forward, we will be doing it on our own. Because of this change, we will need several volunteers to help in various ways, with set up, registration, walkers and prayer partners.

A large collection of egg cartons will also be needed as the eggs come in bulk. Please start saving your cartons now and bring them to church. A container will be available by the mailboxes for you to place your carton donations.

Meet Up & Eat Up:

This is a combined outreach to the Presidential Estates kids during the summer.

For one hour each day, churches and other local organizations are meeting at the mobile home park to distribute lunches and to interact with the kids. Helpers are always needed to connect and build bridges with these children.

As we did last year, we are teaming up with Messiah CRC each Tuesday from 11:30AM – 1PM.

All of these serve opportunities are stepping stones for us to share God's great news about Jesus to some who may have never heard. Please pray for God's direction as to how He is calling you to serve HIM here in the shadow of our church.

Jesus said "When you did it to the least of these you did it to me"
