MISSIONARY PRAYER FOCUS

Global Partners is asking for focused prayer this week for Angie Hemric, missionary to Guyana.

After traveling to Guyana on a short-term mission trip, Angie soon felt God calling her to full-time ministry in Guyana. In 2006 she began giving leadership in a home for orphaned children. Then in 2010 she began serving in a squatter community that is home to more than 100 orphans and vulnerable children. Global Partners appointed Angie to serve as a long-term missionary in Guyana in 2013.

Angie's vision is to develop leaders of all ages and to give the vulnerable a voice. She teaches mission-minded nationals at the Wesleyan Bible College and brings light to those who live in a community of shadowy oppression.

Hallelujah! Give praise, O servants of the Lord; praise the name of the Lord. Blessed be the name of the Lord both now and forevermore (Psalm 113:1-2 Berean Study Bible).

Prayer Points from Missionary Angie Hemric:

• Praise God for his faithfulness, care, and wonderful presence in these most unusual days. Pray for personal safety as times of tension are present in the country due to COVID-19 and a newly elected president. Pray as ministry has shifted to phone calls, texts, and weekly or bi-monthly visits to community families.

• Praise God for open conversations about him with persons from Hindu and Muslim backgrounds Pray for them as they wrestle to understand what is going on in these days of a pandemic and political turmoil.

• Pray for a protective covering over the minds and hearts of the children and adults where I serve. Schools remain closed, and children are home all day. Online learning is not accessible to many in the community. Our team supports families with weekly educational packets for children to complete and return for guidance.

• Pray for peace and reconciliation across the country.

• Praise God for the young Christian leaders who seek the Lord daily and co-labor in the community ministry as they pursue their own post-high school education.

• Pray for the upcoming generation to become "oaks of righteousness" (Isaiah 61:3-4 NIV) who rebuild, restore, and renew their life, family, and larger community with a Christ-filled future.
