Policy Analyst

Responsibilities: This position is responsible for the review of federal regulations and state statutes in relation to their impact on departmental policy and procedure for administration of federal student financial assistance programs. Work involves reviewing and analyzing statutes, regulations and guidance promulgated by the U.S. Department of Education pertaining to the Federal Family Education Loan Program and pertinent other Title IV student financial assistance program requirements. Work also includes assessing the effect of statutory, regulatory, and policy changes on the current function of the federal student financial assistance programs and providing written, information analysis of statutory, regulatory and U.S. Department of Education policy changes to school and lender/servicer participants, as well as agency staff. Work also includes providing interpretive guidance based on authoritative sources in response to questions from staff, clients, and servicer employees concerning compliance issues and preparing written responses to client requests for policy clarification and policy documents for the Senior Associate for Policy and Compliance and other Missouri Department of Education administrators. An employee in this position would also disseminate policy updates to staff and clients and assist in developing training materials for internal and external training activities and Missouri Department of Education website. Perform other duties as assigned. Position is located in Jefferson City. Some travel required.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and at least two years of professional experience in the administration of student financial aid with a postsecondary institution, student loan guaranty agency, financial institution, or secondary market. An advanced degree may substitute for one year of professional experience. Experience in the administration of the Federal Family Education Loan Program preferred. Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills required. Position is located in Jefferson City. Some travel required.
Salary range: $38,700-$43,344
