WELCOME TO 4TH Grade - Moore Public Schools

[Pages:7] ATTENDANCE

? It is to each child's advantage to be at school, ON TIME, every day! ? Students can be dropped off NO EARLIER than 8:00.

? Students arriving at school after 8:30 will be counted tardy.

? According to district policy, 2 tardies will equal 1 absence.

? An ill student should stay at home, but otherwise we look forward to seeing each student at school every day.

Agenda

? Students will write in their agenda at the beginning of each class EVERYDAY.

? Please check and sign your students agenda each night.

? Ask your student to show you or explain what they did in class that day.

? The agenda is a vital part of helping your student be successful in rotating classes.

Homework

All homework is expected to be turned in the day after it is assigned, unless specified otherwise by the teacher. ANY UNFINISHED DAILY WORK AUTOMATICALLY BECOMES HOMEWORK. Students are expected to place homework in their colored pocket dividers. Students are also expected to put their completed homework back in their colored pocket dividers in their binder to return to school the next day.

Late Work

Students will be allowed ONE day past the due date to turn papers in with an automatic 5 point deduction. If it is not complete, the student will receive a zero. Receiving zero points for any assignment can be very harmful to a student's grade and even detrimental when this happens more than once in a single class. When a student is turning in a late assignment they MUST write LATE at the top of the page and the date they are turning in the assignment.

Parent Communication

PARENT PORTAL ? Moore Public Schools has an Internet program called Parent Portal for

accessing information concerning your child's daily grades. We strongly recommend that each and every parent visit the front office to obtain their password for accessing this information. ? If you used parent portal last year the password will stay the same, there is no need to go to the office. Parent Portal can also be accessed through an app that you can download on your cell phone. ? If you access the program and have any questions concerning your child's grades you can contact us through class dojo or email.

Class Dojo ? Class dojo is the main way we communicate with parents. We are able

to quickly send out group messages or send an individual message to parents. If you have not signed up for class dojo we have printed the class codes for you to get tonight.

BEING RESPONSIBLE

? 4TH Grade strives to teach your child how to be responsible. This is the first year they rotate classes and this can be sometimes a hard transition. There are procedures and expectations for each class. For this first 9 weeks as we continue to learn these procedures we ask that you talk with your students about these areas of being responsible.

? Being ready to learn each day by bringing their binders to school. ? Bringing homework HOME and completing it on time. ? Bringing homework back to school the next day. ? Reading everyday in order to meet your AR goal BEFORE the end of each

9 weeks. ? Paying attention in class so you are better prepared to complete daily

assignments. ? Taking responsibility for your actions. If you don't follow the procedures

and expectations know their will be consequences.

Resources for help

? Clever- Your student can access the FULL textbook online as well as videos and games to help them with their math skills.

? Bounce pages- If you have an iPhone/iPad you can download the app. It allows you to scan the page with your device and it will pull up a video to help. This app is new and still has a lot of quirks.
