Hanahan Elementary Summer Reading Program Sponsored By HES PTAWe encourage everyone to read, read, and read some more this summer. Each student who meets the requirement for his/her grade level will be rewarded with a book and a game day in the Library when school resumes after the summer. Guidelines for HES Summer Reading ProgramStudents may read any books of their choice, but must read the required number of pages for their grade level in order to participate in the reward program. Students should do some of their reading within the ZPD reading range from the 2016-2017 school year in order to maintain their reading skills. Grade level is determined by the grade the student will be entering in the 2016 - 2017 school year.2016-2017 Grade LevelNumber of Pages Kindergarten ** 200 First Grade ** 300 Second Grade ?? 350 Third Grade 400 (Chapter Books & Non-Fiction) Fourth Grade 500 (Chapter Books & Non-Fiction) **Parents may read to kindergarten and first grade students.?? Students should read half of the pages independently.
