APRIL 2007

`

Make good use of that gift you received! We all have done it!! We receive a gift that we get for a holiday, birthday, special occasion and pretend that we love it, but really don’t! Now is the time to make use of that gift!! Instead of re-gifting it to someone else who may not have a need for it either or worry about trying to return it, why not donate it?? One of our Grande Park residents will be collecting these gifts that you receive and saving them until the holiday season. Once the holiday season rolls around, we will donate them to a charity or a place in need like the Hesed House in Aurora. Your donation can be anything—clothes, costume jewelry, perfume, household items, toiletries, baby items, anything!! The people who are in desperate need are not picky!! We are looking for stuff for men, women and children of all ages. If you have a gift to donate, please call Alex at 230-5789 or email at alex.bell@ to make arrangements for drop off.

Blood Drive- Wow!! What a terrific turnout for our first Blood Drive. We had originally goaled ourselves at 35 people…. We DOUBLED that!!! We actually had 76 show up and register, but only 67 of them were able to donate, thus SAVING 201 lives!!!! Isn’t that incredible??? We want to thank each of you who attended for your patience and understanding during some of the busier times. As you know when we try things for the first time, we don’t know what to expect and we had MANY walk-ins show up, as well as the appointments. We tried not to turn anyone away! A huge thank you goes to Cathy Crawford for all her energy and time spent planning and executing this event. Also many thanks to Elizabeth Zrelak and all those she had register and for the touching testimony. Also thanks to Chris Howe, Kristen Kornacki, Ivette and Ziggy Dubiel, Christine Matheis and Alex Bell. Without your help, we wouldn’t have had the huge success we did!! THANK YOU ALL!!!!

Easter Egg Hunt- Time is running out to get your RSVP form in to your sub contact. The hunt is scheduled for March 31st at two different time frames according to the sub you live in. Additional forms are available online at the website under the Homeowner tab. There will be no late RSVPs accepted, so please get yours in by March 17th!!! We have lots of fun prizes available and the Easter Bunny will be there to visit and take photos with the kids.

Please RSVP to Chris at chowe99@ so we have plenty of food!!! The more the merrier. We have anywhere from 4,000-8,000 eggs to fill, depending on how many kids RSVP for the egg hunt.

Teen Spring Fling- Mark your calendars for Friday, April 13th, all Grande Park sixth graders and up.  Hype Productions, Inc. will be at the clubhouse!  They perform throughout the Chicago area and will transform the Grande Park Clubhouse into a nightclub setting with lighting, fog, music and dancers.  Check out their website --   It will be a party that you will not want to miss!  $7 per person will include admission from 7-10pm along w/ pop and pizza.  There will be several raffles, including a gift card from Abercrombie, 2 free games of Laser Tag, Avon gift certificate, a jewelry gift from Mark Peters Jewelry and MORE!!! DuPage Children’s Museum Visit Recap-

On Friday March 2, DuPage Children’s Museum visited the Grande Park Clubhouse. Twenty seven adults and 51 children attended the event. The Museum brought some of its traveling exhibits and also had a fun art project using sensory materials to create a collage for the kids. The Museum also raffled off a gift basket filled with great toys from the Museum’s Explorer Store as well as two gift certificates to the Explorer Store. The Resler family won the gift basket and the Bobikiewicz and Kibby families each won the gift certificates.

As a Grande Park resident and employee of DuPage Children’s Museum, I have to say this was a very successful event. It was great to see so many families come out and enjoy some family time and to see the children having so much fun exploring the exhibits and working on their art projects. Thank you for attending and thank you to those of you who made a donation or bought a membership to the Museum. I am grateful to be part of this wonderful community and to get to work with such a wonderful organization that provides a safe, nurturing learning environment for children. The children have so much fun they don’t even realize how much they are learning!

If you have not visited the Museum please bring your family you will have a wonderful time. Consider becoming a member or making a donation to this worthy organization. Joining is easy through their website: .

A special thank you to the following Grande Park community volunteers who helped with the setup, cleanup and assisted the children with their art project: Jennifer Newman, Alex Newman, Alex Fountain, Nicholas Montes, Sue O’Connell, Michael Kolodziej and Brendon Kolodziej. Volunteers help make these events successful!

Electronic Mailings- Would you prefer to receive the Social Committee fliers, newsletter, and calendar each month electronically vs. in hand? If so, please email grandeparksocial@ and let us know this. Each month the forms are available at the website under the Homeowner’s tab. It lists all social committee material, as well as Mom’s group, Playgroup and any HOA notes. Check it out today! If you had it electronically mailed to you, it would save on the cost of running them off, mailing them in the colder months & would save trees, too!! Just email us your name, address (so we don’t mail it) and your email address and we’ll take care of the rest!

Men’s Group-- Calling all Dads and Grande Park Men!!

We are looking for a few good men! Please answer the following questions to yourself:

• Are you looking for opportunities to have a great time with other members of the Grande Park community?

• Would you like to see the area schools be some of the best in the western suburbs?

• Would you like to increase Grande Park's recognition as "the place to be" and thus maximize the property value of your existing home?

• Are you looking for enjoyable ways to contribute and give back to the community?

• Would you like to be part of a strong, closely-knit community organization dedicated to making all of the above happen?

If you answered "yes" to any or all of the above questions, please join us Saturday April 7th at 9:00 AM at the clubhouse for an introduction to the newly established "Grande Park Pioneers", an organization for all men in the Grande Park community whose purpose is two-fold:

• First, to have a great time through planned and impromptu activities such as poker nights, barbeques, attending baseball games and other athletic events, team-oriented sports leagues, camping, and anything else us men (and our inner child) like to do!

• Second, through these activities, to be able to give back to the community and its schools in order to make the schools and the Grande Park neighborhoods the best they can be and "the place to be"!

We hope to see you there!! If you have any questions please contact Darin Janecek at (815) 524-5810 or darin@.
