Student Quarantine Letter Guidelines for Parents/Guardians

Student Quarantine Letter ? Guidelines for Parents/Guardians

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Our school was notified that a student or staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. Health information is protected under the HIPAA federal law which prevents us from disclosing the individual's name or personal information. The Pasco County School District COVID Response Team, in collaboration with the Pasco County Health Department, has completed contact tracing for this case. That process helps identify any student or employee who was in close contact with the positive COVID-19 individual.

Your student has been identified as being in close contact and must now be quarantined. Close contact is defined as anyone who was less than 6 feet away from the infected person for more than 15 minutes with or without a face covering. Quarantine is used to keep someone who might have been exposed to COVID-19 away from others to prevent the spread of disease that can occur before a person knows they are sick or if they are infected with the virus without feeling symptoms. It is important that students not engage in any social after school activities like recreational sports, attending football games, visiting friends, going to work (high school) to limit exposing others. Students in quarantine should stay home and monitor their health.

There is NO need for other family members in your home to also quarantine, unless your child develops symptoms.

Please monitor your child for symptoms such as fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue,

body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and/ or

diarrhea. If any of these symptoms appear please call your school nurse to be screened to determine if COVID testing is

appropriate. Seek emergency medical care if your child experiences warning signs such as:

Trouble breathing

New confusion

Persistent pain or pressure in the chest

Bluish lips/face

A formal letter will be provided to you by the Pasco County Health Department regarding your child's official return date. At the end of the quarantine period, as identified in that letter, we will be happy to welcome your child back to school.

Beginning the week of Sept. 14, all students will be able to pick up meals from school for free! ? Every Friday, your child will receive a week's worth of packaged breakfasts and lunches for the parent or guardian to pick up curbside. Friday was selected because it is in line with our produce deliveries, so students get fresh food soon after it's delivered. ? Your child does not need to be present at pickup, especially if he/she is not feeling well due to illness or quarantine. All that is needed is your child's student number and home address. ? In order for our Food and Nutrition team to properly plan for your meal pickup, please notify your school cafeteria staff one of the ways listed below: o Complete a brief reservation form (Preferred) ? o Call your school and ask to speak to the cafeteria manager ? Families with students in more than one school campus can pick up all their meals at one school. ? This is open to students in medical isolation, quarantine, MySchoolOnline, and Pasco eSchool.
