Principal's Letter

Greetings from Friendship Elementary School! Daylight Savings Time Begins on Sunday, March 8th. Make sure you move your clocks one hour forward !Spring Break is set for March 20th? 27th. Classes resume on Monday, March 30st. Be sure to spend some time during Spring Break on the sites provided in this newsletter entitled "Learning During Spring Break".

The Florida Standard Assessment English Language Arts Writing is set for March 2nd - 6th for all students in 4th & 5th grade during the morning hours. Be sure your student is well rested, arrives on time to participate in free breakfast, and is not absent from school. Please make sure doctor, dentist and counseling appointments are set for other dates and time. We will honor our students with a quiet campus.

Mid? Year School Improvement Plan

Reflection

Friendship Elementary completed our Mid-Year School Improvement Plan reflection. Our 2014-2015 goal is to implement strategies to increase student engagement with a emphasis on the use of instructional technology. As a result of increase student engagement, our academic achievement in Writing, Math and Science will also improve. At this time we have not fully met our goal, however, data analysis collected from Academic Parent Teacher Teams, i-Ready, Volusia County Assessments, Waterford, and Math ACALETICS indicates that students are making progress towards our School Improvement goal.

Important Dates:

As your School Counselor, I provide help to students and families in many different ways. Providing resource information is one way I try to help our families. Free Family Dinners! The last Friday of each month, 5-7 p.m. Community Life Center, 1045 E. Normandy Blvd., Deltona Clothing Giveaway! The first Saturday of each month, 9-11 a.m. at First Baptist Church 725 N. Woodland Blvd. Deland

Learning During Spring Break

Here is the information for resources that students can use at home during Spring Break to keep learning.

i-Ready: Log into Volusia County Website and click on V-Portal. The log on information is the child's alpha code (1sedf) for the user name and their birthdate (01102000) for the password. Once inside V-Portal child clicks on the tile they wish to use. They can go on i-Ready for reading and math, or Destiny e-books.

Edutyping: For keyboarding skills (grades 4&5)- log into the V-portal on the VC website and the tile for edutyping will appear. Log on is your child's alpha code for user name and birthday for the password.

Moby Max: The web address is fl1545. This URL will take child right to the log on page. Your child will know the password because each classroom has a different username and password combination.
