Oak Park Byron Moats Junior Varsity Volleyball Tournament

Oak Park is pleased to host our 22nd Junior Varsity tournament.. This tournament is dedicated to the memory of Byron Moats, a longtime teacher and honorary coach of the Oak Park volleyball program. He and his wife Nancy tragically passed away in June 2007 in an automobile accident. The Oak Park family was devastated by this loss. He gave our girls valuable advice and unforgettable pep talks. Bryon and Nancy are dearly missed.

Time: 8:00am, gyms will open at 7:15 Location: Oak Park High School

Entry Fee: $200 per team payable to Oak Park High School

Rosters and Pass List: Please fax or email by Thursday, September 24th a roster with player names, numbers and positions to 816.413.5305 or candace.mcall@. Include coaches, managers, and any other team personnel.

Awards: First and second place teams will be presented with a plaque.

Tournament Info: The tournament will be played on four courts. Two in the Main gym and two in the Auxiliary gym. Check the playing schedule carefully.

Following the conclusion of pool play, the top 2 teams from each division will be put into a six team bracket to play for the championship. The top six teams will be determined by record and point differential. Those teams will be seeded 1-6 for the bracket.

• The 3rd place team from each pool will play each other in a round robin format on court 3.

• The 4th place team in each pool will play each other in a round robin format on court 4.

Additional Info:

1. Pool play will be two sets, rally scored to 25 (4-4 start), no point cap. Bracket play will be two out of three sets, with all sets played to 25 (0-0 start) with no point cap. This could be adjusted for time purposes if all coaches agree.

2. All ties will be decided by the following criteria:

a. Overall pool play set record.

b. Head to head set record.

c. Head to head point differential.

d. Overall pool point differential.

e. Coin flip

3. Every team is guaranteed 4 matches.

4. Warm up for the first two matches will be 12 minutes (6:6). After a team’s first match, warm up will be 5 minutes (2:2, 1 minute shared serving).

5. If we get ahead of schedule, WE WILL STAY AHEAD OF SCHEDULE. The times listed are approximate.

6. The team listed first is the home team.

7. Each team needs to supply one ADULT line judge for each match.

8. Warm up balls will be provided. Please help by collecting all of the balls at the end of each warm up period.

9. There will be a hospitality room for coaches and officials and a concession stand for spectators. Please keep all food and drink out of the gyms.

10. There will be an open access locker room available. Oak Park is not responsible for personal items or valuables, so please bring your own locks.

11. Scorekeepers and scoreboard operators/libero trackers will be provided.
