The Supreme Court Test is December 16 - There's No Time to Lose. Reporters Are Needed. This Is Your Opportunity. We're Here to Help.

What a time to fulfill your dream to become a reporter in Supreme Court - the highest trial court in New York. (NY residency not required.)

THE TEST The announcement for the "Senior Court Reporter" OpenCompetitive (45-801) and Promotional (55-801) Exams is out. Applications must be submitted by October 18.

Test Eligibility: HS diploma AND either (a) 3 years general reporting (1 year = 200 days of per diem) experience, or (b) 2 years general reporting experience plus graduation from a formal court reporting program.

Appointment Eligibility: 4 years general reporting experience OR 3 years general reporting experience plus graduation from a formal court reporting program.

Examination:

Performance and Written Knowledge Test.

Opening - 185 wpm, 3 minutes - Transcribe 4-Voice Q&A - 200 wpm, 5 minutes Transcribe Jury Charge - 185 wpm, 3 minutes - Read Back

TEST PREP SESSIONS Written Knowledge Test (WKT) Help On October 8 and 9 (Columbus Day weekend), Dom Tursi will be conducting a WKT Workshop ONLINE ONLY. These intensive sessions will consist of English grammar and usage, punctuation, and sentence structure exercises and principles. Some practice dictations may also be provided.

DICTATION PRACTICE Starting October 28, NYSCRA will conduct dictation practice each Saturday morning (except Nov. 25, Thanksgiving Saturday) until exam day. These will be similar to the well-received sessions given in preparation for the lower-court exam in the spring.

Rochester, NY classes Saturday November 11, 18, December 2 and 9 from 9 to Noon at Alliance Court Reporting, Inc., 120 East Avenue, Suite 200, Rochester, NY 14604.
