N?meros iniciais que todo mundo sabe: 1- one / 2- two / 3 - three / 4- four / 5- five 6- six / 7- seven / 8- eight / 9- nine / 10- ten.

Os n?meros 13 a 19 formam-se adicionando o sufixo "teen". (Da? os adolescentes entre 13 e 19 anos serem chamados"teens") As dezenas inteiras formam-se acrescentando "ty" aos n?meros. Nem todos os n?meros seguem este padr?o geral. Observe as varia??es.

0 - zero, nil 12 ? twelve

24 - twenty four 90 - ninety

13 ? thirteen

25- twenty-five 100 - a ( one) hundred

2 - two

14 ? fourteen

26 - twenty-six 105 - a hundred and five

O n?mero zero ? falado de v?rios modos, conforme a aplica??o:

1- zero (pronuncia-se "zirou")- para assuntos t?cnicos e temperatura. -10oC = ten degrees below zero(10 graus abaixo de zero)

2- nothing ou nil - em placares esportivos Our team won 2 nothing. (Nosso time ganhou por 2 a 0)

3- 0 (zero)(pronunciado "OU" como a letra "o"- para endere?os e n?meros telef?nicos.) I live on Main Street 420 (four two O) My phone number is 540-2130(five four O two one three O)

N?o se usa "and" (e) nas dezenas,antes da unidade: 25= twenty-five (N?O twenty and five)

Com n?meros acima de 100 usa-se "and" depois da centena, veja: 105 = one hundred and five . 357= three hundred and fifty seven 3548 = three thousand five hundred and forty eight.

Usa-se v?rgula para indicar milhar ou milh?o, em lugar do ponto usado em portugu?s. Veja o mesmo n?mero escrito em"portugu?s" e "ingles": Em"portugu?s" 1.245 - "ingles" 1,245 . . "portugu?s" 4,5 (4 e meio) - "ingl?s" 4.5

As palavras "thousand" (mil) e"million" (milh?o) N?O V?O PARA O PLURAL. 1,0000 = one thousand - 5,000=five thousand 1,000,000=one million - 4,000,000 =four million

Para dizer o ANO divide-se o n?mero em duas dezenas que s?o ditas separado: 1987= nineteen eighty seven (19-87) . 1492= fourteen-ninety two (14-92) 1954 = nineteen- fifty four(19-54)

Quando o ano termina em "00" pode-se dizer "hundred" 1900=nineteen-hundred . .2000=twenty-hundred

Para ano com segunda dezena menor que 10 diz-se: 2004= twenty O four ou seja= vinte zero quatro 1905- nineteen O five ou seja dezenove zero 5 Obs :aquele "O" ? o zero pronunciado "ou" ok?
