T HE Bukit Serdang community can expect better traffic flow with the proposed upgrading and building of roads in the Bukit Serdang Special Area Draft Plan 2010-2020.

Under the draft plan, there are suggestions to build new roads and junctions as well as upgrading the existing facilities in and around Bukit Serdang.

There is a plan to build a flyover over the Bukit Jalil Highway to Jalan PBS14/1.

With the flyover in place, motorists from Bukit Jalil could access Bukit Serdang without having to make an U-turn at the Selangor Turf Club roundabout.

A 1km new toad linking Jalan BS5/27 and Persiaran Lestari Perdana was also in the draft plan.

About 50 residents and stakeholders attended a briefing on the draft plan last Sunday at Kompleks 3K in Serdang Raya, while representatives from the Selangor Urban and Rural Planning Department UPBD), Subang Jaya Municipal Council's town planning department and its consultant, Asnatech, were on hand to answer queries.

A number of the questions raised during the session were related to the traffic situation in Bukit Serdang.

MPSJ assistant town planning director Hazman Mohd Mahayud assured the residents that the new housing developments would be restricted to an average of 24 units per acre.

"The developers lamented that it is too low but for us, the figure is reasonable as we want to control the traffic density," he said.

Ahmad Tarmizi Husin from Asnatech said the 24 units in the

requirement would be for terrace houses and cluster houses.

During the briefing, attention was also given on four plots of land reserved for non-Muslim

places of worship. The private land, measuring

between 0.16ha and 0.26ha, are located at Section 7 and 13.

Serdang MP Teo Nie Ching

explained that if the proposals were accepted, the land would be zoned as religious sites and the

owners could not use it for other purposes.

"The lands can be bought by associations interested in building places of worship or acquired by the state government," she said.

JPBD senior assistant director Mohd Rozuwan Abdullah highlight6d the suggestion to improve the public transport system in the draft plan, including the shortterm and long-term proposals for feeder bus routes connecting the LRT station in Bukit Jalil and KTM

station in Serdang. 'The MPSJ will have to present

the proposals to the Land Public Transport Commission and bus

concessionaires," he said. The public can view the draft

plan exhibited at the seminar room in Kompleks 3K in Serdang Raya until Friday, from Sam to 5pm.

Alternatively, they can visit

Bangunan Darul Ehsan in Shah Ala m and MPSJ headquarters from now until March 19 to look at the Bukit Serdang Special Area Draft Plan 2010-2020 as

well as the proposed amendments to the Local Plan 2020 of Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ).

Difficult procedures to retrieve towed cars ci'Pr 7/2/3-01-)--

COMING home late one night, Tammy Koo, 28, found her parking space in her condominium taken up and was forced to park outside for the night

little did she know her act would cause much ordeal for more than a month.

After a late night out in December 2010, Koo was forced to park her car along the yellow line at her condominium, Seri Putramas in Jalan Kuching.

Hoping to avoid a summons, she woke up at 7am the next day to remove her car but was shocked to find it missing.

in front of my car were sports cars and other expensive vehicles and mine was just an old car so I thought it was stolen," she said.

Roo immediately rushed to the nearest police station in Mont Kiara but was told that the system was offline. It was a public holiday and the police were insistent that the car would not have been towed on Awal Muharram.

"I, however, insisted they check for me. They called up Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) in Jalan 4aja ',apt bgt,were-tokl that Ae,catwas

missing while on a working assignment in Section 16 proved to be a frustrating affair. He had parked in a towing zone near Menara Star which was towed by MBPJ during one of their routine operations.

Although Arul agreed the fault was entirely his, he would have preferred to pay the compound instead of having no car.

"Now my work is stalled because I can't get to my next destination. I don't mind paying the due but it is such a hassle for people to collect their cars from the depot

"I was lucky because I saw them towing my car, so I am aware who has it but imagine the plight of others who have to wait helplessly thinking the worst.

'There has to be a better system in locating towed cars because naturally people would assume it is stolen and head to the police station. If the car is damaged, who is going to be responsible and pay for it?" he asked.

He added that the requirements from the local council in retrieving the cars were another nuisance as people did not carry registration cardswith thgm.
