From Our Pastor
My dear friends in Christ,
October is a special month in which we continue to honor our Blessed Mother, especially with the recitation of the rosary. During this month I would suggest praying the rosary as a family or other prayers to honor Mary. Also, take advantage of praying the rosary on the Tuesdays of October at 6:00 P.M. at the St. Martin Church shrine. Remember, too, our daily parish rosary at St. John, (which is livestreamed).
Mary, Mother of God and
Queen of the Rosary- pray for us!
Since there has been a number of reported cases of COVID-19 in our area, it is important to wear a mask when you attend Mass. Those age 7 and older are asked to wear a mask from the time you exit your vehicle until you return. Please bring your personal hand sanitizer. We suggest you use it when you are seated, prior to communion, immediately after communion, and as you return to your vehicle.
Bishop Joseph M. Siegel has given a dispensation from the obligation of Sunday and holy day Mass attendance until November 1, 2020.
The dispensation is intended to help protect the health and well-being of:
• Those 65 and older and those of any age with underlying health conditions;
• Those who are caring for or living with these individuals;
• Those who have serious concerns about the health risks of coming to church for the celebration of the Eucharist.
These persons are urged to continue to participate in the Sunday liturgy via live stream or other media.
While this dispensation applies to all Catholics, parishioners not under these risk factors are encouraged to attend Mass, following the health protocols put in place by their respective parishes-especially wearing face coverings and practicing social distancing when coming to church.”
Thank you to those who have been faithfully sending their collection envelopes. It is much appreciated and needed for us to keep the lights on, pay our employees, and the other parish expenses.
May the Lord bless and keep you,
Father Walker.

Religious Education & Youth News with Jackie FA ITH FORMATION jesch@
It’s so great to be back in religion classes after a wonderful Fall Break! The bulletin often needs to be printed before events happen and I missed my chance to thank Evan Williams and Brian Esch for their hard work at the Loogootee Public Library service project on Friday, 10/16/20. Rock was spread throughout the new landscaping beds and we couldn’t have done it without them. Remember that October is a special month when we celebrate our wonderful practice of praying the rosary! Please, talk with your children/nieces and nephews/grandchildren about this wonderful act of prayer. Pray a rosary with them. Talk about the sorrowful, glorious, joyful, and luminous mysteries. Show them a rosary that may be special to you. I have mine from my first communion and my wedding and they are so special to me. May you have a wonderful week ahead and feel God’s loving presence in your lives each day!
