ATTACHMENT ATECHNICAL FURNITURE SPECIFICATIONSFurniture Systems, Workstations Description (workstations will very in sizes and shapes)Note: The technical specifications set forth herein are required: All measurements are estimated and quantity is provided in PWS. The specifications may be subject to changes where applicable and agreed upon by both parties, Government and Contractor.Systems Furniture: The design solution for systems furniture is to be a tile and frame system to allow access to data cabling. Systems furniture must allow off-module planning to enhance design flexibility. The capability to join freestanding case-goods to systems work surfaces is required. Frame and Tile Based Workstation Furniture:Panels shall include off-module planning, accessible power and data, adjustable work surface height. Panels shall be both segmented and stackable and allow intersecting panels, all components, overheads and work surfaces to connect off module attaching at any point along the panel. Panels shall have an open core frame and removable skins to maximize distribution, storage, termination, consolidation points, and access to power supplies and data cables. Panels shall accommodate vertical and horizontal routing of power and cables within the full height of the panel, allow for looping and sorting of cables within the panel in anticipation of additional workstations. Panels shall have the ability to distribute and access multiple 8-wire electrical systems within a single panel. Panels shall accommodate lay-in cable distribution under the top cap and at the base of the panel. Powered panels shall offer access to electrical and data connections both just above and just below work surface height, in addition to the base of the panel. Frame and Tile Specifications:Frames shall be heavy steel construction and available in a minimum of five different heights ranging from 30” to 64” high. Frames shall be segmented stackable frames with the ability to accept structural stacking elements. Frame width options shall include various widths ranging from 12” to 48” wide as a minimum. Frame thickness shall not to exceed 3-1/2”. Frames shall accommodate off-module connections and be non-progressive with the capability to remove a panel frame without disturbing adjacent frames. Off-modular connections shall not require a unique panel frame. Frames shall accommodate hanging components on either side of the panel frame without requiring load balancing. Frames shall allow for a full range of component heights, “adjustable” in maximum 1” increments, except where screws are required. Frames shall include self-leveling adjustable glides for uneven floors. All exposed ends of frames shall be covered with powder coated enamel finished, hard surface trim filler pieces. All hardware shall be included. Frame connection angles shall match drawings as provided. Tile finish options shall include fabric, painted and perforated steel, stackable and acoustical, and glass. Fabric covered tiles shall be of medium grade fabric with acoustical Sound Transmission Class (STC) rating of 15 or greater. Power/Electrical/Data Requirements:Each workstation shall receive a minimum of (2) duplex outlets and (1) grommet for data connection. Data devices are provided and installed by the Government. Cable routing locations within the panel shall maintain the minimum bend radius required for various types of cables. All electrical components shall be Underwriters Laboratories (UL) listed and meet the applicable requirements of the National Electrical Code (NEC). Power and communication components shall be field-installed with the ability to add or remove components and cables within any panel after initial installation behind removable panels. All panel system power components shall be keyed and color-coded to prevent accidental connection of components with dissimilar power components. Power supply kits shall have multiple connection points for branching of power. Each side of the panel shall have access to every circuit distributed within the panel at every 6 (six) feet. A 3SN wiring schematic shall be available. Power infeeds shall connect with building power from a wall, floor, column or ceiling and distribute (4), or more, 20-amp circuits (3+1 or 2+2). Each circuit shall have access to either the system ground or isolated ground. The furniture system shall allow for power and data distribution above the work surface as well as at the base.Wire Management:Wire management to allow cables and plugs to be routed beneath the work surface shall be provided through use of grommets and covers, cutouts with finished edges, or a continuous space between the work surface and panel. A minimum of one grommet or cutout shall be provided per work surface. Grommets shall be 2-1/2”-3’ in diameter.Work Surface Specifications:Work surfaces shall be available in a variety of shapes and sizes as indicated in the diagrams provided at Attachment B to allow for modification of workstations to meet building conditions. Where possible, the work surface shall be panel mounted. Where work surfaces are next to a mechanical convector, the surfaces shall be free-standing and movable for access to the convectors. Work surfaces shall have either laminate or form coat finishes with a waterfall, eased, or radius edge. The finish of the work surface shall be one consistent selection and color as determined by each Call order. Adjustable height work surfaces shall be Americans Disability Act (ADA) compliant. Options for the method of adjustment shall include hand crank and electronic. The ergonomic design shall allow the user to adjust the work surface within a 10” (ten inch) height range. Minimum work surface area shall be approximately 24” by 48” to work within systems furniture typical workstation designs. Overhead Bins/Task Lighting:Overhead bins shall be locking, with closed lift-up type door to swing over top of bin when in open position. Bins and lift-up doors shall be painted metal. Bins shall have hydraulic jacks for ADA compliance, with appropriate pulls available upon request at no additional cost and lead time. All task lighting shall be indirect, continuous full length and mounted to underside of overhead bins. Task lights shall be equipped with high-efficiency, rapid start, fluorescent bulbs, with electronic ballasts or Light Emitting Device (LED) light fixtures. Storage Cabinet:Storage cabinets shall be freestanding with hinged, locking doors with a smooth or textured painted steel case and adjustable painted steel shelves. The storage cabinets shall be 14” to 24” deep, 30” to 42” wide and 30” to 72” high.Storage Towers:Storage towers shall be freestanding, painted metal finish with a combination of wardrobe with coat rod, filing, and side facing bookcase. Towers shall match the adjacent panel height. The preferred configuration includes two vertical file drawers. All doors shall be pivot, locking doors.Freestanding and Mobile Pedestals:Freestanding pedestals shall be locking, 24” deep, painted metal construction. Freestanding pedestals are to be File/File or Box/Box/File configuration. Mobile pedestals shall be Box/File configuration with a seat cushion top and handle. Box drawers shall be equipped with a minimum 1 (one) drawer divider per box drawer. Cushion top shall be finished in a fabric of medium grade or 100 percent Polyurethane Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) free. All drawers shall be on full extension glides. All file drawers shall include parts to allow the flexibility for letter and legal filing with standard or hanging folders. Counterweights shall be provided. Keying Specifications:Individual components (e.g. overheads, lateral files, storage towers, and pedestals) for each workstation shall be keyed alike with removable lock cylinder. The Department of Veterans Administration (VA) shall have the option to change the keying system without incurring any additional costs.Lateral Files:Lateral files shall be 30” to 42” wide and available with two (2), three (3), four (4) or five (5) drawers on full extensions.
